Hey!!
Just got accepted at UIUC!! Am pretty sure that i will be accepted at Georgia Tech.
Can anyone please tell me which one is better for mechanical? ( I plan to do PG in automobile )
And can u also explain why the social scene at Georgia is criticized so much?

Georgia Tech unless UIUC is instate.

Go to Illinois if the financial stuff is equal between the two.

Any differences in educational quality between UIUC and GT at the undergraduate level for MechE will be marginal and insignificant. However, the social scene is better at UIUC imo.

Denied…!! crap… Im sending out a form to review my app again.

Congrats poseidon!

zohem391, wish you good luck. It is still Feb.

Congrats poseidon,
I gt accepted too…
I think UIUC is better overall than GT…
Bye

Hey poseidon. I got accepted too (UIUC BS. ECE/CS)! Congrats!

@ pulkit “I think UIUC is better overall than GT…” What I heard is that EE and Bioeng at GT are very good. I also heard that GT students get better summer internship opportunities.

GT is located near downtown Atlanta…hence the crime rate is significantly higher compared to a sub-urban/rural city Urbana!
Also, GT is a bad, bad university for guys. 70% male : 30% female. This ratio SUCKS!

^ Yes. All good points. UC is neither a city nor a suburb of one. It is really in the middle of nowhere. But Chicago/Indianapolis/St.Louis are all close enough for a weekend getaway.

Congrats pulkit and smit!!
I applied for mechanical.

Hey!! I got admitted too!!

@paimit2014 Layak zalle, congrats!

congrats poseidon!

GT is better.

poseidon, for mechanical there is no doubt gt is better. uiuc is renonwed for cs. regarding social scene, i have not visited uiuc but i have visited gtech. to be honest, gtech was allright in terms of “atmosphere” my friends and some students who i met on the campus told me its not really a big deal. However, people complain mainly of the male to female ratio and the large amount of nerdy, WoW playing, geeks who are very unsocial. But again, those are all opinions. Unless you are looking for a “frat boy/girl” college experience or have a problem with nerds, I suggest GaTech over UIUC.

@paimit,
