Well, I guess in the end it gives her the satisfaction of being able to say she got Five 5’s. The fact that 4 of them were social studies and she is a chemistry major is odd…
@CuriousInCincy Good luck to your son tomorrow on the HAT!
@HazeGrey Very kind of you. Thanks! He’s excited and ready. Sending his writing sample this week too, which is quite strong IMHO.
@CuriousInCincy Lots of complaint over on the student room about the MAT and PAT. Hopefully things went well and that thanksgiving brings you good news.
No complaints here. HAT reported to be very straightforward. Much like an American AP exam. Fingers crossed and hoping for the shortlist!
Good news, @CuriousInCincy! let us know what happens next
Son just got an unconditional from Edinburgh for History & Archeology! He will wait to see what happens with Oxford, but Edinburgh has long been his first choice. Thanks to all of you for the good counsel and encouragement throughout this process!
Congrats!! isn’t wonderful to be this side of Thanksgiving and know that he has a wonderful choice in his pocket
Yes, indeed.
Congratulations! Well done.
My daughter got 3 unconditionals from King’s and waiting for UCL and Queen Mary. Kings seems to be her first choice so she’s over the moon.
@2boysandandagull Congrats to your daughter. So nice to have options this early.
I’m new to this thread, but I’ve applied to Oxford (PPE), King’s (PPE), Edinburgh (Philosophy and Politics), UCL Dual Degree (2 years at Sciences Po/2 years at UCL with German specialty), and UCL (PPE).
Already received two unconditional from King’s and Edinburgh! Has anyone received interview invitations from Oxford? I know that PPE interviews are relatively early and especially as an international applicant I should know in early-mid November.
@thoreaueditor, interview invites don’t usually come out that early. The PPE interviews are early in the interview cycle, but their invites don’t go out much earlier than anybody elses, and I am not aware of international applicants getting invites earlier than domestic applicants. Look for it around Thanksgiving- if you start being obsessed with it in early-mid November you will be a basket case by the time they actually go out!
@thoreaueditor my son received his email last year on 11/21. From the chatter last year on the student room, it may have arrived a day or two before the U.K. applicants.
UK students usually get them in the post & international students get emails- I believe that they go out on the same day, hence the day or two discrepency (b/c UK post is really that fast!)
Has anyone heard back from UCL or KCL? Its been a month and I haven’t heard anything beyond confirmation that they received my application.
Didn’t apply there. But we’re still waiting on Durham and York, if that eases the mind.
My daughter’s applied to UCL and Durham and hasn’t heard back from either (she applied almost two months ago)
I’ve read that Durham generally only sends out offers after the 15 Jan application deadline. UCL also seems to be slow to send out. My impression is that it varies a lot from university to university as well as from department to department within each university.
My son received an unconditional from Durham in the first half of December last year. It may vary by department.
