UK Class of 2019 EA thread

Still no letter yet for me. I think the EA acceptance rate is ~ 75% or so, so most of us should be okay.

Some of my friends have already been accepted.

I was accepted on December 19

@gminor and@illinoisgolf, when did you submit your EA application? My D submitted her EA application on 11-20-14… It took UKy 9 days to download her application from the Common Application system! No letter yet for her.

@CoMoMom I sent all of my stuff in on the first of December. UK might have lost my transcripts, I’ve already talked to my counselor about it. What’s even weirder is how in the application portal it says I haven’t turned in my application fee… I don’t even know if that’s possible using the common app.

@CoMoMoI I turned in my application on December 1.

Got accepted Saturday! 28 ACT, 4.3W GPA, top 13%, oos from Illinois.

@MitchIsTheMan97 Congratulations! When did you apply?

@gminor The application portal showed that they had my D’s Recommendations, Writing Sample and Test Scores by mid-December, but did not show they had HS transcript and Application fee until after the new year (around 1/4/2015). She used the Common App also.

I applied 11/30!! I always cut it close  @CoMoMom‌

My D got an email today notifying her that her application to the University of Kentucky Honors Program has been accepted! We are thrilled, but have a couple of questions:

  1. Not to be dense, but does that mean she also has been accepted to the University? It does not specifically say that.

  2. Is an email all that she will get or will she get a hard copy of something in the mail?

@CoMoMom‌ 1) Yes. Honors doesn’t receive applications for review until a student has been accepted to UK 2) Just email this year. Go green (and blue! )

I submitted my application on December 1st, got my acceptance letter December 3rd.

Got acceptance letter today. No info on any scholarships (I didn’t apply for the competitive ones).

@gminor, Congrats on your acceptance!

Congratulations on your acceptance, @gminor! My D got her admit letter yesterday almost 1 week after her acceptance to the Honors program!?! We are excited! She did not receive any information about scholarships either. She did apply for the competitive scholarships.

As far as I can tell the admissions process seems to be a bit disorganized this year. Does anyone know if Kentucky received more applicants than normal this year?

Ex: How can I apply for a living learning program by February 15 (early action track) without knowing I’ve been accepted into the Honors College until March or April 1?

Excellent question!

@indecisiveinfp7‌ @CoMoMom‌ Your application to Honors doubles at your application to the Honors LLP. When filling out housing, you can select two or three different LLP’s as backups and if accepted into honors- you will receive a letter that essentially will ask you to choose Honors, or one of the others you listed on your housing app. In other words, you don’t need to know whether or not you got accepted to Honors in order to apply for housing-

Also- all Honors notifications will be out by the second week in February

@HonorsGoBigBlue‌ - Yep! I just got the updated info today and was about to post it! Thank you!!
