I live in US, but I am a dual US and UK citizen. I want to go to the uk for med school because they start at 18 and they dont do pre med. Although, I dont think that it will be worth it unless I can get into a really good med school.
ACT:32-33
GPA:3.6 uw/ 4.2 W
I play two sports and two instruments
I am in 5 clubs including Key club, charity water and strides for south sudan club
I won a presidential community service award
I volunteer at a hospital and a food bank
and even though they dont do pre med, I have many pre med classes out of the way by doing AP calc, AP physics, AP chem and AP bio and maybe AP stats
Do you think I can get into any med schools in the uk
Oxford
Birmingham
Queen Mary
Sheffield
Edinburgh
Cardiff
Manchester

More important than ‘can I get in?’ is, what are your plans?

Do you want to work as an MD in the UK or US? The US had pushed to have more MDs graduating, but funding for residencies has not increased commensurately.

Whereas there used to be enough MD residency spots for all the US MD grads and many US DO grads plus IMGs., now there are nearly twice as many applicants as spots.

We know several kids who went to the UK for med school, it seems to be three years at the first school then three years in another location. After that they try to get a family practice spot back in North America. Some kids stay there for good.
