Hi, I’m currently a Junior (equivalent of anyway) in a British school. I have 12 As at GCSEs and I’m predicted 5 As at AS (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Math and Latin) and 3 As, 1 A at A2 (Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Math).
SAT-wise, I have a 2210 (not superscore) on the old SAT so I can’t improve unless I take the new one or the ACT. The breakdown is M 700, CR 740, W 770. I have a 720 on Biology-M and I’m retaking in May along with Math 2 and Physics.
I’m a girl of British/Chinese descent and am not the first generation to go to college. I don’t have American citizenship and I’m not a legacy.
Extracurriculars: Piano (post-grade 8 ABRSM), Musical Theatre, Head of MUN, Head of Chess Club, 2 Martial Arts, Choirs, Debate, House Head of Music
I volunteer one a week at a care-home near my school.
I don’t really have outstanding achievements. I was commended in British Physics Olympiad and highly commended in the British Biology Olympiad.
I want to apply to CalTech (which is a long shot considering my low Math score, I know), Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Brown and Princeton. My major would probably be pre-med or biomed. I might minor in classics or physics.
What do you think? This probably isn’t enough information so if there’s anything you want to know, just post and ask.
Thanks
You do seem like a really competitive applicant for all the colleges on your list. Caltech doesnt admit a lot of international students, so that might be a bit hard for you.
If you would like going to either JHU or Brown too, I’d suggest EDing to one of them in order to maximize your chances. I’m pretty sure that you’ll get in.
PS: Take the ACT if math is your strong suit. I personally want to major in Math, and I had a 2200 on my SAT, but I improved to a 34 on the ACT with just a week of prep. I’m sure that you’ll do better with more prep.
Best of luck!
