ultimate at H

whats the deal with ultimate frisbee at college?
im kinda into it and id like to play in college, but its not NCAA so how does the team work?
also could i do it in addition to tennis?

Ultimate in college can be played as a Club sport or as an Intramural sport.

Club ultimate is more competitive and at a higher level. The Ultimate Players Assoc. (www.upa.org) is the US governing body; they organize College Nationals (and the qualifying Sectionals and Regionals) for the Club teams. Most college club teams participate in the qualifying process, in addition to other separate weekend tournaments. Each team's website should have the specifics on tournament attendance. You can also find info on particular college teams at http://www.nutc.net/college.cfm.

Re: playing ultimate and tennis -- I don't really know the answer to this question. I play Ultimate in HS (I captained a team at HS Nationals this August) so I don't know about the time commitment in college. I'd guess, though, that it varies considerably by team -- the most competitive teams usually practice quite often.

Harvard's A team (Red Line) is good -- they finished 11th this year. See http://hcs.harvard.edu/~disc/2006/home.php .
