UM New Student Record Info

Anyone else get this today? $ 31.00 to get info about other students, acticities etc. Alexandre - should we get this for our kids?

Wy not? $31 isn't going to break the bank and it can certainly give you a lot of useful information. Let us know if you get it...whether it is worth it or not.

hmm..sounds a lot like facebook to me...except a whole lot less free. Idk if I'll do it.

Pdxmere I doubt life...so Im going to say this...make sure the letter is not a scam...maybe its a fake letter, just think about it, UM giving personal information about students, without their consent.I never signed anything stating that my information is to be supplied freely, not that it matters, but anyways.

My second son got it when he started there, and I must admit it was pretty useless. Very few students participate so even though it's only $31 it wasn't worth very much unless you just want to see your picture in a book of some of the freshman class. I wouldn't recommend it and my third son did not get it.

i dont think im gonna get one

I sent in my picture and info and will get the hardcover book for 31. I'll tell everyone how it is when I get it.

thanks redhare317

Ok, I thought I should BUMP this up to tell everyone how it is like I promised. For those of you who did not get one, I would say that it's pretty much a very thin yearbook with only black-and-white faces. It has the town/state the person is from as well as the high school he/she attended, prospective major, and up to 2 interests. (Just like the stuff in the information form you have to fill out for it.) That's really it. There's some info in the front that introduces you to the school, but it's not much.

The bottom line: It was not necessary to buy, especially at the price. If you didn't get one, you won't have any regrets. I think it's overrated, and the school made it seem like it was better than it really is. A lot of people seem to be missing, too. Just stick with your facebooks, everyone. Did anyone like the New Student Record?

whats the new student record?

The New Student Record is a book listing incoming freshmen with pictures, activities, hometowns, etc. I'm personally a little disappointed with it. I thought the book was going to be better than it was.

I don't get why you would need it anyways. You don't know anyone in the class yet besides those that may be your friends. And you get to know people later....it's seems more of as a class yearbook before you've graduated or know anyone lol

Money is to be drained from my blood by all means possible. Yearbook or whatever means imployed by the university is an example of such drainage. Soon they will be selling Ann Arbor air in bottles just to get some more money.

lol wow....
