I figured you guys know a lot about this stuff, so if you had the option between emory (with the ability to pay about 12,000 without a problem and not certain about how much financial aid I'm going to get, single parent household with 3 people in college next year, 5 total) or UM FULL RIDE which would u take?

um...michigan? maryland? where?

if its michigan, maryland or miami i would take it, although miami and maryland aren't as good as emory they are still good schools and you can note on your resumes after college that you received a full scholarship, obviously michigan is an amazing school so if its michigan than no questions asked go to michigan

Oh I should've specificied, it's Miami (Florida)

I got the 75% scholarship to U of Miami, but i chose Emory.

It also depends what you want to major in because every school has strengths and weaknesses. So what's your intended major?

emory > miami any day of the week.

if it was mich then thats different.

i say miami, it's all about grad school anyway

if financially you can make it work... Emory is a better undergrad school as well as a better "feeder" school to top grad programs

I would recommend that you wait and see what financial aid you get from Emory. Sometimes a good financial aid package from a private school can make an expensive college be cheaper than a public university. You probably won't beat a free ride, though. Beyond that, it really just comes down to the money. Think of whether or not you want to pay for the amenities or have $$$ in the bank among graduation. If you plan on going to grad school, where you get your doctorate/MBA degree is a lot more important than where you got your undergrad. It isn't like the top grad schools don't take people from public unis.

what?? full ride?? shiiittt......miami is no slouch...i'd take that bad boy..make good grades and pay for grad school.

my stepdad says to go to UM because there's better looking girls there, u guys all make a better point

well..it depends on your goals and major. Both are good schools. Emory is better, however. I hope i get in.

I would wait to see what FA you get. If you would prefer Emory to Miami, it might matter exactly how much more you would have to pay for Emory.

i also got a big scholarship to UMiami but chose Emory. i mean...emory is a better school, but miami is also a really good school and it's hard to turn down a full scholarship! honestly i would wait until you found out how much financial aid you get from emory, but if it isn't good..i would choose miami..

do you just live your stepdad or something? you said single parent household....

The "single family household" doesn't affect financial aid unless the other parent is deceased. Colleges assume that both parents are going to help pay for college, and divorce does not affect finan aid.

iunno doesn't matter anymore, chose emory
