UM or USC??

Hi skhalafi. I can tell you right now that a degree from USC is going to probably look better than one from Miami merely because USC is ranked within the top thirty universities in the U.S., and Miami is ranked within the top fifty. Plus, USC has been working to increase their national standing, and my guess is, in a few years, that USC degree is going to look even better than it does now. That being said, you should also look at how they rank in terms of your major, what courses they both offer, the professors each university has (I’m assuming you already know the professors at Miami, but look up the ones at USC, see if they’re doing anything that interests you), the requirements you’d have to fulfill at each (for your major and GE), etc.

Also, I should warn you that although the USC vibe is really great, they’re location isn’t ideal. You should ask some USC students on this site what they think of the school, its students/faculty, its environment and its location. All of my friends who go there absolutely love it, but there were elements that took some getting used to (ex/ location is smack-dab in the middle of a ghetto, huge greek life, emphasis on sports, lack of ethnic diversity, etc.)
