UM Scholarship Weekend

I am going to the February 16-17 Scholarship Weekend. I was wondering who else is going and if past or curent student tat have attended have any advice?

I would like to know specifically about the interview process, and the chances you will be awarded the Stamps scholarship, Singer scholarship, and the Weeks Scholarship.

My D1 attended last year with my husband. They went on a campus tour, attended some Q&A sessions, and had meals with current Foote Fellows. My impression from talking to my husband is that the applicants were very competitive and trying to make themselves seen. Imagine lots of raised hands and questions, LOL! I do think applicants are being watched.

Anyhow, applicants were then assigned an interviewer (a professor in my daughter’s case.) I seem to recall a student was also present. My daughter was uncertain how her interview went, but she said it wasn’t difficult or stressful. It was more of a conversation really. Her advice? Be yourself!

There was lots of discussion last year here on CC about the chances of receiving one of the elite scholarships. I don’t think the university puts out the statistics and it’s not easy to figure out. We were floored when D1 was awarded a Singer Scholarship. It led her to turn down her #1 choice/dream school for the []_[]. She has no regrets!

I went for the February session this year. They just sent out notifications to those that went. I received the Bashevis Scholarship which pays for tuition in full. I am so excited. I wanted the bigger scholarships, but quite honestly, beggars can’t be choosers. I also received notification that I was invited to be a Foote Fellow.

Sdteak and philosophqe what where your stats?

Has anyone heard about Stamps?
