So I waited roughly 1 week and got my letter, and there were 3 things I noticed that has me slightly worried...
1. apparently, my ACT scores haven't arrived yet (which is NOT good)
2. My high school transcript never made it though (? it wasn't checked off)
Should I call CMU and ask or ask my counselor? (My counselor said she scanned it into a PDF file and sent it or something...)
3. I have to take the TOEFL?!
I put my first language as Chinese (being truthful here!), but I was born a U.S. citizen and learned English when I was 3 or so. After reading some other threads, I was wondering if there was a minimum SAT/ACT score needed to be exempt or if calling them and explaining is enough?

So can someone help alleviate my fears (or am I just being paranoid)?

call admissions ASAP. You can probably get out of doing the toefl (I did, being in a similar toefl situation) just by talking to them. I don’t know about the other stuff though, that might be pretty bad :(.

I hope everything turns out to be ok. At the very worst, you’ll have your application deffered to EDII or RD instead of EDI

Well, I applied for EDII, so hopefully I have a bit more time to fix this up…

Well, I called, but now other problems have arised…
I need to send a hard copy of my transcripts…and my ACT scores are still on it’s way.
But.
The admissions officer I talked to said that it was required to take the TOEFL, even with being a citizen and other stuff.
She said that there were no exceptions this year. Can anyone confirm this please, or have any evidence otherwise? (I really don’t wanna take the TOEFL…)

Edit: Great, the closest TOEFL date found was AFTER EDII admissions are sent out…
What am I supposed to do now? :(

"

I have heard of two people on this thread who explained there story to CMU and they said it was OK. I recommend instead of calling the CMU Admissions Office email the admissions representatives because they can give you a more clear answer.

Well, I actually called the admissions office a second time after I found out about the TOEFL dates, and this time they said they could consider my application without the TOEFL, but the TOEFL would only help the application (since 1st language isn’t English…)
Other, more disasterous issues came up:
- this time, the officer said that my transcripts did arrive (so which is it?)
- they recorded my SAT scores as arrived, but there are no record of scores (?!)
- there’s someone else with the same 1st and last name as me applying as well (potential mixup?)
So, I’m going to talk to my guidence counselor to try and fix this thing but geez it looks so bad right now. :(

i’ve heard that CMU is not so good at handling files…
but how common is your name though? is it something like… Jane Wong?

You guessed the last name right. LOL but my first name isn’t common at all…
it’s definately not a common “Asian” name.

Well, now the website says “Application Complete” so I’m pretty sure something was fixed after I called. xD
Gonna make one last phone call inquiring about the missing SAT scores on the “Where am I” page LOL. Such a hectic day.

haha it was a good guess :)

btw, do you live in the states? i was just wondering… how long did it take you to receive the letter after the deadline or the submission date?

i live in canada and i submitted mine on Dec. 1st. i’m currently waiting for the letter to come :)

It took about… 5 days or so for me to receive mine after submitting the application. And yes, I do live in the states.
though in CA, so mail still takes time to arrive xD

submitted on nov. 30th and received dec 5 with a postmark date of dec 3
