UM too much of a reach?

Hey, I was wondering if you guys think the University of Miami would be too far of a reach for me. Here's my stats:

1720 (superscored) on my SAT:
560 CR, 620 M, 540 W.
3.8 GPA unweighted, 4.9 weighted.
500+ community service.
Ranking in top 5%.
Essay should be really good, at least I think so..
I plan to attempt Early Action.

Lots of Dual Enrollment, 1 AP class that I failed the exam.

I also plan to retake SAT's in October before my application is due.

PLEASE help!

Miami Ohio or Florida?

In Florida

Try to get your SAT to a 1900+

Right now its a big reach

(Also might want to try the ACT)

Yeah I understand… Do you think it would even be worth it to attempt an application?

Yea you have a small chance

Your grades put you in contention and while your scores are not great, they aren’t terrible either. Certainly worth applying especially if it is non-binding EA. Certainly worth trying to improve those scores though ;-)

You should definitely still apply. You have great grades/gpa/rank. Your SATs do need to improve. Another obstacle you face is the lack of rigor in schedule…Good luck! It’s one of my favorite schools too :D

@barrk123, U of Miami is in FL, Miami U is in OH.
