you are right be_somebody , it’s about getting good education .did anyone try calling admissions ?

“Yeah, I meant if you get off the wait list you’ll have to live on Baits, where the smell of rotting corpses will poison your mind.”

I always appreciated your input in the numerous threads, but i’m not getting this one at all. This comment seems out of character for you.

Either you know this for a fact, and it would be helpful to show clear evidence of it so wait listed people know they are going to Baits…and can plan for it.

Or, you are making a guess and then this comment is just incredibly malicious and unhelpful for the people on this thread.

Baits used to be premium housing for upperclassmen and grad students. The rooms are slightly bigger with community kitchens and private bathrooms (shared between two room). I lived there while it was brand new, but that was decades ago … you mean the corpses are still there?

Honestly though, would it be Baites?

Hi, my name is Emily. How may I help you?
me: Hi Emily , I wanted to know if Umich has statred taking students off the waitlist yet
Emily: Sorry Swati, they have not.
me : do you know if they will be and if yes ,when ?
Emily: Everyone will hear by the end of June.
me: i understand but can you tell if they’ll need to go to the waitlist?
Emily: Historically, we’ve only taken a handful off the wait list. This year will probably follow the same pattern.
me: oh, thanks

Guys, I suspect Yosup was being facetious, you know, kind of mocking everyone’s online terror of housing options on north campus. Relax.

And with respect to housing, they explained to our family last year that while housing IS first come first served, they do attempt to hold various spots in various places for those who are admitted later in the game. Same with courses at orientation. So by being late, as in getting off the wait list, does not truly make a HUGE difference in housing or class availability. Which is not to say you WON’T end up on north – many freshmen DO – but that truly will not majorly affect your experience at UM.

aveeno, that’s not some good news I saw from your chat history

So there is a little hope then. another post on a different thread said that Michigan will not be taking anyone off. A handful is better than none at all.

Aveeno: So according to your phone conversation and online conversation Michigan will for sure admit from the waitlist even if it is just a few people?

@ktMI14 - I do think few people will come off the list . I had read last years thread and from there i understand they statred taking people off after mid May till 26th June. so lets hope for the best and good luck to all of us.

as a data analyst by trade, i think any non-factual discussions about wait list chances are very unhelpful. Each year, esp. for the UM, the number of kids actually accepted from the Waitlist can vary from zero (many years) to a quite sizable number. The problem here is that what happened last year or the past few years is a very very poor predictor of what may happen in any subsequent year. Your best bet is to: stay in touch with the admissions office without being obnoxious about it. AND if anyone gets an acceptance or rejection letter, please post it. Anything you “heard” or “read somewhere” is worthless to the discussion. I say this as a Dad who helped get his kid accepted off 5 very good liberal arts college waiting lists last year (we didn’t wait for the sixth).

You ONLY need relevant facts, and so far (I’m watching for my friends S,) I’m seeing very very little on this forum.

Good luck to all, but don’t go off the deep end fretting about it. It either WILL happen or it won’t.

For more data check Rich73cas thread on Chances of getting in or Common Data set data.

so I called again today and they said that students may start getting off the waitlist soon.

Although I do not post under the UM forum I would feel helpless if I didn’t share information about waitlist.
A student at my school who was waitlisted at UMich was accepted within the first week of May, student explain their disgust / disregards towards the school. They will be attending MSU.
So I’m sure students have been admitted off the waitlist, just very few at the moment. For whatever reason those who so happenly wish to attend UMich and was waitlisted there is still time.

True. ^ student at my school also accepted off of waitlist after may 1st. It was during the first week of may.

I just want to know already so I can commit mentally to one school!

Anyone heard anything?

Anyone heard anything? I haven’t by the way

I am curious, what is everyones’ stats? I thought all admission decisions would be done by now. I don’t understand how a school can make a student wait until the end of June for a decision. Most schools would have a deadline by late May early June…

nothing yet
I check portal everyday

some people are talking about being waitlisted upper tier… does anybody have this status on their WA? they told me that the upper tier status thing was on their application status page but i cant find it anywhere…

I think that the upper tier waiting list relates to Uof M’s medical school.

Like the rest of you I am so anxious to get an indication of whether or not I still have a shot at clearing the waiting list and starting as a freshman next fall. Everytime I call admissions I get the same answer, “yes we will probably take a few people from the waiting list but not until the end of June”. I keep checking WA but I really do not know why.

Where do you all plan to go to college next fall if you do not clear the waiting list?
