So I just checked online the other day and I got REJECTED from UGA, call me cocky but I thought for sure I was a shoe in.

GPA: 3.7
SAT: 2080
Solid EC's, great internship job, 4 year Varsity sport
150+ Hours of Community Service
I'm a Legacy
Solid recommendations
Good essays
One of the best private schools in Dallas

What the hell?!! This is just eating me up inside, I can't believe that I wasn't even waitlisted. I mean at least I was waitlisted at Boston College, so apparently UGA is more selective than BC?

I mean I know my stats aren't spectacular or anything, but they fairly decent which is why I'm so confused...

Nope I took 6 AP classes, and I’m pretty sure my essays were pretty good because I went over it with my AP english teacher, so I’m still not sure what the problem is

i’m sorry, but you’re out of state? you should know that there’s not a high chance many out-of-staters get in. it’s no ucla, but you have to pretty much do it all + show high interest. like, “i WILL go if i get in” interest.

Also, the economic conditions are making flagship state universities much more attractive to students that would have gone private a few years ago.

It’s not you “it’s the times” as the senior citizens used to say when I was a wee lad.

Good luck selecting a college. You do have good stats.

mev1205: Here is my guess as to the situation, although you might not like it; the numbers you are giving might not be showing the reality of the situation. First, if you have a true 3.7 GPA, that would mean that almost 3/4 of your grades are A’s, and 1/4 are B’s, which I am guessing is not the case. As with a lot of applicants, what your GPA is on your transcript is not what is calculated by colleges as your core GPA. Second, are your grades going up over the last 3 years, or down? Third, are your AP’s in a broad range of areas, or are they in 1-2 areas or in non-core classes (AP Art, AP Comp Sci, etc.) As for what happyface2002 and Multitasker are saying, they are absolutely WRONG! Look at myth #5 at [UGA Undergraduate Admissions - Top Ten UGA Admissions Urban Legends](http://www.admissions.uga.edu/myths/index.html), and you will see they are wrong. Yes, 15-18% of students at UGA are from OOS, but that is because a larger % of OOS accepts stay in their home state, while about 60-70% of in-state accepts go to UGA (the last I heard, about 25-30% of OOS accepts actually go to UGA, due to OOS cost, travel, etc). People, if you do not know what you are talking about, do not spread rumors. While it is hard to be denied, I would suggest looking at your transcript and taking a close look on your actual grades over the last 3 years, what your AP classes are, and your grade trends. Good luck with BC!
