so i got a 5 on calc bc junior year but decided not to skip to 53 and take math 1b for "review" purposes

i just got my second midterm back :( and calculated my grade in the class to be about a 75 without any curves at all. I know i would probably be able to get like a B/B+... but there's no harm in making it pass/no pass right?

You really should speak to a counselor about this ASAP.

For business, 1 semester of math (1a, 1b, 16a, 16b) is a pre-req. For econ, 2 semesters (1a + 1b, 16a+16b) is required. Since you already passed the Calc BC test, I think you may have already satisfied this pre-req. However, I would want to be absolutely sure before changing it to P/NP, if I were you. Remember, pre-reqs MUST be taken for a letter grade.

Either way, for those majors there is no reason to take Math 53. If you are doing badly in Math 1b, you may want to consider not taking any more math classes.

flutterfly_28, your 5 on Calc BC exempts you from the math requirement for both business and econ, depending on which you do. So, it's completely fine to take Math 1B P/NP. As an Econ major myself who skipped out of 1A/1B because of a 5 on BC, I would still encourage you to take Math 53 and 54.
