UMaine accepted chance for honors college and merit

We got that email too. Nothing further though.

Nothing about honors for my kid’s acceptance, nor in the followup mail about (fabulous!) merit aid.

Last year, I think my daughter received an Honors College invitation a few weeks after acceptance. It wasn’t right away
 hope that helps!

Wondering if UMaine sends out any sort of acceptance snail mail. It would be such a nice touch for our daughter to receive something tangible!

She was accepted through the portal a couple of weeks ago - her first acceptance!

My son received a snail mail package

If you are from NJ, your daughter will pay the same tuition as you would pay for your in state university. Room & board will likely be a little cheaper.

Aw thanks - if this is directed at me then we are from the West Coast but we and our D23 adore New England!

Hoping that snail mail will be forthcoming!

California is one of the states whose residents are eligible for University of Maine’s “flagship match” program. Contact U Maine immediately because some of their scholarships have a Dec 1 application deadline.

Oh gosh - we are in Washington State but I will look this up right now just in case!

Washington is not one of the states, but they do have other scholarships besides the flagship match program. It’s worth inquiring because they’re very motivated to bring in out of state students.

Yes, thank you! That is precisely one reason she applied.

My UMaine freshman was awarded a merit scholarship which brought the tuition to approximately what we would have paid for SUNY (State U of NY) in-state tuition.
UMaine is very generous, flexible, and accommodating with merit money!

Green check on D23’s portal today!!!

How long does it take for the snail mail to arrive? @bethy1 Did you get a letter yet?

Although we didn’t get a letter from admissions, I did get a letter letting us know we were flagged for FAFSA verification. I called to ask about it and they told me the FAFSA is not required for the Flagship Match. I decided I wasn’t going to send in documents until she was accepted, and now I’m thinking I might send them in after I get a full picture of the cost after the Flagship Match and any additional scholarship. I wonder how long that would take
We will not qualify for a Pell Grant, but I might want to keep a federal loan as an option.

Unfortunately, no snail mail. Also no word on merit as of yesterday when D23 rechecked the portal.

Thank you. I wonder if I should call again
since if you haven’t received a letter yet, it might be a long wait for D23z

I just called and the person I spoke with said my D23 should receive an acceptance letter in a few days with any merit offer. So if that is correct, it seems they are sending out letters promptly after acceptance shows up of the portal.

Everyone I have talked to in UMaine admissions has been so nice and helpful. The music playing while I was on hold was also great. Lol.

Thank you! It’s possible we missed it. I will ask D23 to call and follow up for sure!

Thanks again!

Last year, the VERY first indication my daughter had that she was IN was that Umaine Nursing started following her on IG :grinning:
But then there was the large traditional envelope with tons of info and personal letters.

Hi everyone. I have a few questions before we (my son) contact UMaine. He was just accepted and received the 2023-2024 $10,275 Presidential Flagship for both semesters. My understanding is that will remain consistent for all 4 years as long as he meets certain criteria. We also reside in MA. Is he eligible for the Flagship match program in addition to the Presidential Flagship Scholarship? Just a little unclear. Congrats to all your students.

Did you review this? My sense is that they kind of mix/match from all the Flagship listings here:
