UMaine vs. Northland College opinions?

Hi everyone,

I am hoping to get a few opinions. I am wondering if anybody knows about Umaine’s graduate placement statistics? I got accepted there and it’s fairly affordable, and my end game is getting a degree in Philosophy and English, while also preparing to go to grad school. I’m looking at schools such as Edinburgh, Brown, Yale, U Copenhagen, etc. I also got accepted into Northland College in northern Wisconsin. It’s quite small and known as an environmental college, and it’s also highly affordable for me as well, but wanted to see if the small college name would hurt? Are either of these colleges a decent choice if I am looking to get into one of the aforementioned grad programs?

Thank you for the pointers!

I know i’m not answering your question but you can help me. I applied to umain too for it’s philosophy program. I am from Boston and hoping to try Yale or Bowdoin upon graduating. How long did it take you to get your admission decision from umaine?

No problem. After I applied, it took a couple weeks for everything to come through, maybe 3-4 weeks to get my info in the mail. however, if you keep checking your MaineStreet student center page, it will say much sooner. I knew I was accepted via the little green checkmark a good two weeks before I got my acceptance package. If you want to know faster, keep your eyes out there and you should be good. Hope to see you in class! We philosophy majors are few and far between as far as I can tell.
