UMass Amherst 2021 decision thread

They are at the same time.

Do decisions come by mail or online?

What their email said is: "Please note—we are no longer mailing admissions decisions. Decisions can be found on your SPIRE account. "
I don’t understand why they can’t also send an email instead of forcing students to check the portal every 5 minutes until they get the decision.

I believe you’ll get an email when it’s ready? They mean no more snail mail, I think. That’s my interpretation, anyway.

I got the email. I applied for mechanical engineering and I DO NOT want to wait longer than tomorrow. I want to know if I got into CHC and if I got any scholarships now, dammit! :-SS

@as1799 I hope we all hear tomorrow, but chances of that are slim. Based on past experience, UMass is does not get all of their decisions out quickly. Hopefully that has changed in the past couple of years, but you might need to be a little patient.

Do you guys think that Spire will update at midnight or sometime during the day tomorrow? The email did not mention a specific time and I know that Spire only updates once a day.

well i got into my ed school, NYU, so good luck to all of you guys!!

I applied for Computer Science, so I’m supposed to get my decision a little later than most, but I’d very much like to know when other people have received decisions so I can know when to stop spam checking the site each day

@cthlulu Why won’t CS majors get a decision today?

Still nothing back yet. Anyone else have a decision?

Nothing yet.

How can umass not handle the amount of applications to “competitive majors”? Let’s say 15,000 apply for EA, a little less than half of the total number of applications. Say around 4k apply to isenberg, 3k to cs, 3k to nursing, and 2k to engineering, and the rest to non-competitive majors. Schools like UMich get over 30,000 applications and release decisions at the same time as UMass (should be today, but there’s a delay for every major there).

3k to CS? No way… 3k is what UIUC gets in a whole year.
Guess the numbers are too off, but I see your point.

What are all the competitive majors?

Also will Umass Amherst post decisions on weekends?

@wolfwing123 I was quickly estimating, based off of them being “competitive”. If the numbers are lower, then that just makes UMass look worse. I hate to be cocky, but I know I got in. I’m in state, and my stats are more than good enough. (over 75th percentile ACT at umass, 97th nationwide). I just want to know if I got into CHC, and if I got any merit money.

@as1799 How do you know already? It’s out?

@wolfwing123 If I get denied from UMass, I should get denied from every college I’m applying to. My chances of rejection are VERY LOW. 31 ACT, multiple AP’s, 3.7w gpa, in state, what else can they ask for?

You’re so humble @as1799
