@ananva I dont think size should be an excuse. I mean UCLA received 102,000 applications and managed to release all decisions on the 17th.
@HoustonPFD I’m pretty sure UCLA gets more funding than UMass Amherst does though. I agree that UMass waiting until mid-April to release decisions is bad, but that’s comparing an apple to an orange
@ciara2021 Considering UMass has less than 40% of UCLA’s application numbers, they should be able to handle it. I don’t know the exact funding but I highly doubt they get less than half of the funding that UCLA does for their admissions department.
So my spire account changed from under review to “Your application is under consideration for admission. While we realize that you are anxious to receive your decision, please understand that we want to take the time to give each application the full attention that it deserves.” Has this happened to anyone else?
If I click on application status from the first page, it says “under review”, then if I click on that it says “Your application is under consideration for admission. While we realize that you are anxious to receive your decision, please understand that we want to take the time to give each application the full attention that it deserves.”
It has been this way for months, the one thing that is different though, is that when I clicked on app status it would open up a new page/tab, and now it just goes there.

Slightly surprised, but I know their program is very competitive.
Waht is the time frame for release of rd
through end of april, decisions trickling out most days it seems. we are still waiting.
It’s April now. This is so irritating.
im not rlly considering umass and i havent heard back yet. i totally get how frustrating this is if it is a top choice for someone.
I’m thinking that I may ask for my place to be given to another applicant…but I’m not sure still where I want to go and I do want options…so I’m hesitant to email admissions like that. It seems like there are quite a few qualified students here that are waiting and some from OOS that badly want admission. Should I just deny their offer of admission?
While I really do applaud your willingness to do that, I think that because you aren’t committed to a school yet, you should not give up your spot yet. Until you are 100% positive that UMass Amherst is not the school for you, you should keep your options open - afterall, this is one of the most important decisions of our lives so far. Congrats on getting accepted by the way!
May!!! They should issue refunds to everyone who hasn’t heard by today. They aren’t suddenly swamped. This happened last year too. It’s shameful. I hope all of you still waiting get your decision very soon.
I JUST GOT ACCEPTED! quick question… Is it better to go to the open house or go on a campus tour by yourself on a different date?
@vdoan17 What time did your email come in?
I did not get an email spire just updated
Congratulations! What is your major? Did it show under review yesterday and updated on a Sunday morning to accepted? I just checked ours and we still have under review.
My son applied EA back in November - high test scores - 1400 SATs 35 ACT with a decent 3.2 GPA. Applied Computer Sciences. No word yet- this is crazy. Anyone applying CS still waiting?
I got accepted for Psychology! They received my application on Dec. 1st and Spire just updated today. They didn’t send me an email, though. I’m instate, have a 3.8W GPA, 1260 SAT, community service, and mediocre extracurriculars.
my major is biology. it was review yesterday and updated this morning
