@anonymous13321 Are you an international student??
@AudreyKang, yes I am an international student
@anonymous13321 Oh, ok, thanks!
Last year, the evening after the international candidates were notified, they released some OOS US decisions. So there is a chance for tonight. All this speculation and analyzing can’t be good (or accurate!)
Did anyone hear back today?
Last year the first batch of us applicants came out a little after 7pm et the day after the international acceptances. We are still a week earlier than last year’s decisions so don’t know which rule they follow.
@lexluthor5 That’s good to know, are you out of state?
@AudreyKang we are oos from ny. It’s our daughter who applied.
Looks like it won’t be the night after international like last year. Maybe they’ll start notifications next week then.
At least merit comes right away.
Hi everyone, If anyone here gets accepted into animal science/ pre-vet let me know I am waiting to hear back and hope I get in even though my scores a little lower! Good luck to everyone else applying
lgmccarthy…we are waiting on the same program. Also a lower GPA but higher SAT/ACT scores and OOS.
We are in state and still waiting here (Isenberg).
I have a student currently at UMass and she got her acceptance (via an email saying to check portal for change in status) more than a week before her friend did - exactly the same program and friend was also accepted. Seems like they release them in waves.
Interestingly enough, the admissions office just emailed me back and said that as of right now, decisions have not been released, and no date has been set. They did say that the date will be closer to the end of December, though.
Is the animal science program super competitive? All my extracurricular are focused around animals so I hope I have a chance I also did a summer program there for Pre-Vet and loved it!
Hi guys, I am currently at UMass and used this website all the time so I figured I would give some helpful info. Last year, I heard back December 20 as a Journalism major. And chc students did not hear back first because I had two friends get into chc that heard back after me, when I was not invited to it. I think more competitive majors hear back later but it really is random so even though it kind of sucks, just don’t plan on getting it soon. When you get in, you will receive an email notification with login info for you to check, and then you will hopefully receive your acceptance letter. The average GPA and SAT score for our class is a 3.9 and and a 1290, respectively. So I would expect anywhere around a 4.0 and a 1300ish to be the average this year. good luck! B)
EA will start being released next Monday
@collegemom9 I also just received that email too
Just received the same email regarding EA decisions beginning Dec 10th and running through beginning of Jan.
I didn’t receive that email, so it said the 17th?
Thank you for the info, and good luck.
Just received the email
“The UMass Amherst Office of Undergraduate Admissions will begin releasing decisions for Early Action applicants during the week of December 10, 2018. Not all decisions are released at the same time. We will continue to release them throughout December and into the first part of January.”
Hopefully merit notifications come along immediately, as they did for the international students who received acceptances the other day.
It’s great to know that you/your child got in, but the merit can make or break a choice in many cases. The schools that have a big lag between acceptance and merit are toughest.
