My daughter just got the same email. It’s pretty bad to wait so long for that.
I got deferred as well. It’s very upsetting to hear after waiting anxiously for so long. But a deferral is not a rejection!! And I’ve heard that last year a ton of applicants who go deferred ended up getting in during the regular decision pool.
My daughter got deferred tonight, as well. She applied for Nursing so I guess Deferred is better then rejected- They take a small amount of nursing students so it’s not shocking. Anyone else nursing deferred?
My major is nursing. I’m shocked that they didn’t full on reject me only because my sat and grades aren’t as high as some of yours. Best of luck to everyone in whatever school you choose to commit to! (: @NYIslekid
Same here
@NYIslekid I got deferred also for nursing
@NYIslekid I applied nursing also! My stats are just average comparing to those who got in
@jenmie same here, average stats and deferred
Still no answer for me, out of state
After the rejection from Purdue on Tuesday, this deferral kinda hurts.
SAT: 1390 (690 RW, 700 M)
GPA: ~3.5 UW, 4.43W
13 AP Classes
A few national-level awards, 2 of which are CS related
Officer of 2 clubs
Taught web development to HS and college students
And I play bagpipes… amongst other things… too disheartened to list all them at this point. I’m really not sure what I did wrong.
@milesdavismadman yeah this deferral stung a little too after my rejection from Villanova. I’m still waiting on my northeastern decision but at this point I’ve lost all hope.
another nursing major deferral here. fingers crossed average stats
@gle4766 I’m waiting on Northeastern as well.
And, like you, I’ve also lost hope. Looks like it’s gonna be a gap year or community college for me. Don’t feel as if it’s deserved, but it seems like my only option at this point. Perhaps I would’ve applied to more schools if I got this wake-up call from UMass earlier. Admissions was a mess.
deferral for nursing here as well.
OOS, no decision yet
Would any nursing majors feel comfortable sharing stats? I have a 1240 SAT and 4.0 gpa- average and I was deferred
Nursing majors and got deferred 1390 SAT and 4.1 GPA average
D applied Nursing and deferred SAT 1340, 4.2 GPA.
UMA website - “The typical accepted student in the Nursing Major has a 4.1 GPA (weighted and recalculated), an average SAT score of 1360, and an average ACT score of 28. The approximate acceptance rate for Nursing applicants is 12%.”
