I am an asian student (senior in high school) living in Massachusetts. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.1 and a weighted GPA of 3.45. I have an SAT Score of 1360 (out of 1600) and have gotten a 760 on the Math II Sat Subject Test. I have taken several honors and AP courses. I also play basketball, do track, and am in clubs such as science olympiad and math team. I have received a college tuition waiver from UMASS for my score on the MCAS. I am currently taking 3 AP's (two maths and AP Biology). My current grades in senior year are: 2 C's, 1 B, and 3 A's (definitely going to improve second semester). I am also president of the band. I plan to go the pre med route at Umass Amherst. Please let me know how my chances are!

I’m from mass as well, and I hate to sound like a prune, but almost everyone I have talked to has gotten the Abigail Adams scholarship for mcas. your GPA is not low, but its not high, but your SAT scores make up for that. Considering you are instate, they know all ma public and private high schools like the back of their hand, and sometimes they take into consideration what high school you attended.

Considering that I am in-state, does that increase or decrease my chances? Also, something I left out was that I have been working in a hospital for medical volunteer work since the beginning of junior year. Any thoughts??

In state decreases chances becaause many schools look for money and out of state is much more expensive. But I think you have a decent chance especially if u get your grades up in second semester

@smartbutlazyy Not everyone gets the Abigail Adams scholarship (unlike the koplik) because you have to be in the top 25 percent for the 10th grade mcas

Unfortunately guys, looks like I have been deferred into regular decision. How are my chances looking now? Minimal or OK?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
