UMass- Amherst Class of 2019 Regular Decision

Nothing received today :frowning: so the wait continues. For my oldest daughter who has graduated from Umass Amherst, we faxed the letter from the high school that she was eligible for Abigail Adams once she had sent in her deposit and it was added.

@kwilliszm3‌ , wait does the deposit have to made first?

I’m not sure. She graduated 3 years ago now, and we only had to send it in her first year. I suggest you give them a call for the details.

@ndlbacker - I don’t agree with you although your reasoning is logical and persuasive. I do think that the remaining applicants may still expect and hope for an acceptance offer. My beef - is that no one, and I mean no one - rejected or accepted should have to wait, wonder and worry this long. Neither do I think that the rejected candidates should have to wait until the bitter end for a rejection letter. What message does that send? Are we supposed to take silence that yawns for months (5 for us) as a not so subtle hint?

I’ve said this before and I will say it again. There is no excuse for dragging out this process. It leaves the remaining “still waiting” feeling very disheartened and discouraged. Most, if not all can accept bad news. Just tell us, already.

@aquan3123123‌ I believe you have to send a copy of your award (the letter you got) to the college. It is not included in your financial aid packet.

Thanks for the info on the Adams scholarship. My D doesn’t qualify but she is eligible for the Koplik Master of Distinction (or whatever it’s called. It is based on MCAS scores and SAT subject test scores) which is another tuition waiver from the state. I will check into how to how to pass this info to UMass.

You can get the application for the Koplik off the MA State Education web site but you have to submit the application to your high school Koplik coordinator – generally that is the guidance office. You need to supply copies of MCAS scores and other supporting documents or SAT II scores. They process and send to state. It is credited to your account after you commit to a MA public college or university although that may require some follow up.

Thanks for the info. Got the application filled out this weekend and gathered together copies of MCAS scores and eligible SAT II scores. My D will drop it off at school tomorrow. We shall see what happens after that.

Still waiting… I called admissions and they said once your letter is received, it will show up online 10 days later, Not sure if this is a help or not…

My admission status says: “Your application is under consideration for admission.”. Is that mean I’m in ? Can anybody clarify this to me. I applied for CS as a transfer student.

It means they are looking at your application now.

Oh finally, my brother got the same message and he got in and I got excited.
Still waiting.

guys no one here has to worry … I have been waiting for months and I just got it today … Its titled April 1, Good luck to all of you guys. I even got in the pre-medical program, dont lose hope everyone has a chance to get in until April 15. :)>-

@Mostapha _ that is wonderful news! I know you have worked hard for this. Enjoy your day in the sun! You deserve it

Thank you a lot @SQBrit‌ and I’m ready to meet you there! Good Luck! :)>-

For transfer student, it is until June [lot of waiting] and congratulation on your acceptance, @Mostapha‌

Thanks a lot @Nomads77‌ hope you get in as well! Good Luck!

What is the matter with UMASS? This is exactly what happened last year. Don’t fret a delayed acceptance is not a rejection.

I think that is wrong because I’m a student in MA still waiting for my letter and out of the many students that applied regular or got deferred from umass, only one has heard back and the rest of us are still waiting. I wouldn’t think that they would reject everyone at my school, no one I my area has heard unless they applied early.

Lol @Twinmom2014‌ many people are applying this year, around 43k and the process is just all messed up. But, people who haven’t heard back should realize that they are not rejected, if you have good stats
3.7
1100 and above sat scores for math+reading
Good Extracurricular activities
good essay and have some AP
good grades

You are most likely to be in, don’t lose hope at all. Acceptance letters are going out until April 15
