@mom2girls00 we had a similar experience, accepted and going to an ivy, but not accepted into CHC, in state. It looks like admissions is using CHC as a way of attracting top OoS students, knowing on average they pay more
One can apply for admission to the CHC after the first semester freshman year.
Any chance of decisions today?
i’m not getting my hopes up since it’s new year’s eve… but that doesn’t mean there’s 0 chance
@kevinanglin @cbros45 @Mom1997 - My son was also accepted into CSBS but he applied to Isenberg (for his two choices of Business and Finance). Was wondering what you heard back when you called/emailed? We got our decision on 12.28. Thank you.
@lerxst Living in the honors dorm with other honors students was a big part of the appeal.
@mom2girls00 Did your daughter get a merit scholarship?
Just the Abigail Adams scholarship.
@mom2girls00 @miscparentname I agree that UMass is missing out. My daughter easily had credentials for CHC and has other offers. She would have seriously considered UMass if accepted to CHC, but now I think no way. Too bad they are missing out on some great instate students.
I was accepted 12/30 at 12:15, OOS Mathematics Major. 4.0 UW, not sure how they calculate weighted gpa but it’s anywhere between 4.16-4.32. ACT: 33. CHC and chancellors scholarship. I believe they decide CHC by rank but it’s also greatly influenced by getting students from certain areas to come.
Son was accepted on 12/20- But didn’t check until today. Admitted in state economics major with 3.2 GPA out of 4.0 and 35 ACT.
Just my 2 cents (and my son hasn’t even heard back yet so take it for what it’s worth) I totally understand the frustration of parents who are upset that their kids were not offered CHC when they absolutely earned it. That is irritating but I would suggest you take a breath and think about it before deciding to accept an offer someplace much more expensive. Someone mentioned UMass as daughters top choice because she didn’t want to get herself into debt. That’s a very smart and mature decision. I am going to guess that many of the OOS students who were offered CHC may decline their offer so there will be room for your children to transfer in after the first semester. So 7/8 of their semesters will be part of CHC and they can graduate in a much better financial position.
Just the opinion from an unbiased party. Best of luck to your highly qualified kids! Happy New Year. (And here’s hoping for decisions for those of us still waiting)
For those accepted to psychology what were your stats?
My son was accepted into Psychology on 12/30, in-state, 3.82 UW GPA, 1430 SAT.
My application portal says my application was submitted 9/30, and all my credentials were checked off by 10/15. my portal still has not changed at all, and doesn’t show that it is “under review” like some other schools show. Is this normal for other applicants before decision is released or is my application possible incomplete??
My son applied early October and everything was in by October 24th. Nothing has changed in his status either…just waiting for Nursing acceptances to start coming out from UMass.
I also agree with @HLGC - there are so many great schools out there its important to minimize debt and take advantage of any instate or merit that your child gets. No reason to get more debt than necessary!
Engineering?
According to last years decision, engineering didn’t hear back till the second week of january
@Momtofourkids thank you so much for your help, that makes perfect sense because I applied for nursing as well. Good luck to your son!
I got accepted to psychology on 12/30 and I have a 4.0 W gpa and 1240 SAT
