UMASS Amherst Decisions 2022

@hawknation: are you saying your daughter was deferred EA isenberg and then got accepted on 3/2?
Do you mind sharing her stats? Thx

@Momtofourkids I’m another MA resident. I think part of your delay is the fact that your S applied to the nursing school. My friend’s D was deferred EA last year and actually never heard back! But she ended up at UVM’s nursing school paying the same money that UMass Amherst in-state would have cost (loves it, too). Clearly UMass Amherst can’t handle the demand for entry into its nursing program.

My D heard she was accepted for visual arts at UMass Dartmouth within three weeks of her application. I think the UMass response times vary by program and location.

@madgemini4 I totally agree. I cannot say anything about the nursing program or any other but I can surely say for their engineering and computer science program that they are very efficient and helpful.

And wow like NEVER? thats awful.

Haven’t heard yet and I applied to nursing as well. Nervous about my decision at this point

@charizard1234 To be fair, I’m repeating hearsay … I think I recall her mom telling me that she didn’t hear back in time for the May 1 commitment deadline.

they have to let regular decision know in time for the deadline

@madgemini4 Even then its AWFUL.
Guys dont worry, this may be your first time applying ( for 99%) but it is not their first time granting admissions. You will get it in good time. The reason you guys are so worked up is because UMass has not declared a lower limit like many universities such as Wisconsin for instant - latest by 1st April.

You should have around a month to make your decision.

Here is my two cents: choose one college other than UMass and fill in their admission securing deposit (I know it can be a loss) and make up your mind that you will only withdraw if you get into UMass or else you will go there.
If you have been accepted into a University which you would rather go to than UMAss, then forget about UMass unless you are expecting financial Aid from UMAss.

In any case Best of Luck and relax and focus on other important stuff.

anyone hear back who is majoring in communications yet? very stressed and anxious to find out!

any psych people hear back yet?

@IceCubeZz That depends on whether you’re an in-state student or not, as most of the time, in-state students don’t get merit scholarships, or (I believe) get a maximum of 2K a year (state schools normally don’t give much if anything to in-state kids, it’s not just UMass). Out-of-state, however, have a much higher cost of attendance, and therefore usually get merit awards of varying values.

i applied to journalism first choice and comm second choice and im so nervous! haven’t heard back!

Any decisions today?

Is it true that Umass is sending acceptance letters tomorrow?

Did anyone hear anything today?

Two of my friends got admitted about a week ago but me and two other friends haven’t heard back yet. Been refreshing the status page like crazy

@Momtofourkids My daughter was accepted to the nursing program back in January. The nursing department has been incredibly helpful in answering all of my questions; the program director gets back to me within a few hours every time. The program had about a 10% acceptance rate this year so it’s difficult, but it could be the reason people night still be waiting.

@lisag519 How many people applied to nursing this year if you know?

@lisag519 glad they have been receptive to you. We had called and left messages a few times last summer and the Nursing Dept never got back. Then we tried admissions and they either did not convey the message or it got lost. I did call UMass today and they said people would hear end of next week - the woman sounded a little harried and said “we got over 40000 applicants”. I was going to say Northeastern got 62000 and they could give me a date for hearing back, but chose not to although she was pretty short with me. I did ask if UMass was rolling admissions but got a No.

@Momtofourkids when you mentioned people will hear back at the end of next week, does that apply to nursing applicants or all applicants?

Rejected on the 15th, applied for linguistics which is competitive
