Have you heard back from UMass yet?
I’m really nervous because my GPA isn’t really the greatest because my first semester at BU really killed me and I’ve been trying to bring it up ever since.
My stats:

(Accepted into UMass previously for Fall 2013 as an Econ major & accepted into the Commonwealth Honors College)

Not that this likely matters since I’m transferring in as a Junior:
High School EC’s: Varsity Cross Country Captain, Yearbook Editor, NHS
High School GPA: 4.0 Weighted/3.7 Unweighted
SAT: 1970, ACT: 30
hey guys! I recently got accepted to UMass Amherst and the Honors College as a transfer. I had a 3.9 college GPA
but pretty poor high school stats. Hope this helps!
I submitted my application on February 24th, and 2 weeks ago they emailed me asking for an the alternate major form because I was not eligible for my first & second choice major, because I don’t have a prerequisite of calculus. So I chose communication now I’m just waiting for a decision.

@jrolls95 congrats! When did you submit your application & how long did it take to get your acceptance?
I submitted mine in late February and I’m still here waiting! :-<
@grzyba i think your chances are good btw, a higher gpa would be better but BU is one hell of a good school so that should help a lot. I’m actually applying there, can you tell me why you seek to transfer?

I applied all the way in January, so hopefully I will be hearing soon!
@jonjacobjinkle Fingers crossed! I’m hoping BU’s reputation as a GPA killer factors in to the decision but in the end my GPA isn’t as good as it could have been.
Are you still applying for econ at BU? Their econ program is pretty great actually, in the end it wasn’t for me.
I’m aiming to transfer because the HTM program at UMass is better curriculum-wise and reputation wise than BU’s. It’s older and it has set tracks rather than the more hotel-based focus BU has. It also has to do with how expensive BU is too
@fallenwinter Your college stats are freaking great man! Did you send in SAT scores? and hows your midterm report? But i think you’re a shoe in man!
Hopefully we all hear back soon.!
@jonjacobjinkle Thanks! I sent in my SAT scores and I only had one midterm this semester which I received an A in, but UMass did not request any midterm reports from me. I also think you are a shoe in!
@SQBrit Haha thanks, I came by it very easy actually. I love snow and I love cats so I simply googled “snow cat” and voila!
When do you think we will start hearing back? My application has been complete and under review since at least April 2nd but I submitted it on March 23rd.
I’m transferring from George Washington university. My current gpa is a 3.88 and I was previously admitted to umass when I applied during senior year of high school.
On another completely unrelated topic, Can i get some advice from you guys? I just got an email from one of the other schools I applied to (Gonzaga) asking if I wanted to keep my application open(wont get a decision till I submit my Spring Grades) in order to get a merit scholarship if i keep it as high but problem is, I honestly don’t know if I can keep my 3.8. My geo class is dragging behind all my other classes and will most likely result in decreasing my overall gpa.
So do you guys think I should request for a decision now? and hopefully get accepted. Or Ask them to keep my application open with a chance I might not get accepted with a 3.5 or so for Spring grades?.
I know this is a Umass Amherst transfer thread, but you all seem like really cool people and I think you wouldnt be too butthurt about me posting here hahaha
borderline B/C 80% of the class failed the midterm and the profs giving no curve hahahah but hey at least he’s giving extra credit. Anyways, according to the admissions I stand a much stronger chance in getting accepted overall if I hold of on the application, so I ended up doing that. @fallenwinter, thanks for the feedback, though much appreciated!
oh and also I heard from other people the decisions for Umass Amherst take a long time. I do not expect to hear anything soon.
@jonjacobjinkle No problem! That’s lame… The rep that came to my school said that since I applied in Jan, I would likely hear in mid-April. Mid-April is right around the corner and it would be a shame to have to wait all the way to May! I wish they had a set date for decisions like other schools.
@fallenwinter you heard back already? man I’m so behind hahaha and does that mean you got into Amherst but just not into CS? sorry for the ignorance haha
@jonjacobjinkle It means that I have good enough stats to not be rejected outright, but they mid-term grade requested me so there’s still a chance that I can be rejected.
My best friend with a 3.5 college gpa got rejected outright yesterday applying to the business school.
