We are from India. My son got admission in undergrad computer science major, for fall 2018 . We are under confusion regarding selection. Can someone throw light on these universities? 1)Rutgers New Brunswick 2)UMass Amherst 3)Texas A&M College Station 4)UT Dallas 5)FSU Tallahassee 6)University of Florida Gainesville
He got admits in few more like ASU Tempe Indiana University Bloomington , Purdue Polytechnic UC Merced etc.

Have Regular Decisions come out yet? Thank you!
@vijayavadrevu I would advice you to go for UMass Amherst as it has the most accommodating campus and it apparently provides the easiest transition. I speak from experience of my cousin. We are also Indians and I am considering UMass very seriously, I am also admitted for fall 2018 at computer science.
I understand as a parent you are worried about the culture at USA ( my parents are also on the same boat) but you have to let him free and trust your upbringing. He will do just fine. He will have to struggle regardless of where he goes.
UMass has excellent reputation for CS and among the best in USA for AI (if you are interested).Their AI track is among the best. Make your mind up on what specialization he wants to do and all he has to do is focus and ignore all other disturbances.
I will be attending Umass in fall 2018. Their support staff is very helpful, call if you have any enquiry. PM me for more info.
@charizard1234 @vijayavadrevu Hello! I’m actually a current freshman at UMass, and while I can’t speak for the CS major (as I am not one), I can tell you that UMass certainly was an easy transition, at least for me. They have a summer and fall New Students Orientation that really helped with getting comfortable, and since everyone is starting college for the first time, everyone is in the same boat when it comes to meeting new people. This makes it a lot easier to make friends, and I felt that I was already really comfortable at the campus by the time move-in day came. I personally haven’t had a bad experience with people on the campus, as everyone who I’ve come into contact with is very nice, but college is what you make of it, and each person may have a different experience. Just don’t be afraid to get out there and introduce yourself! Of course, please call and ask the school themselves if you have any questions, I’m sure they’d be happy to help you out. @vijayavadrevu, wherever your son chooses, I’m sure he will do great! @charizard1234, I hope you love UMass Amherst as much as I do!
i wanted to find out what we are suppose to read for our placement tests
Thank you @cfields98 for the response. My son got into Computer Engineering with 12K $ scholarship per year in UMass. He wants to go for computer science. He got into University of Florida Gainesville too. We are presently stuck at this point in taking decision. If Computer Engineering too is as good as Computer Science in UMass , then UMass can be considered.
can someone please let me know if the fees remains the same year over year or does it change?
@knn9413 The fees will go up every year. You can count on it.
