<p>Alright, so i know i'm going to get a lot of flame for this but thought i'd post it anyway and see if anyone can give me some real advice.</p>
<p>I'm trying to transfer from my community college in MD to amherst this fall. My college stats are...well...bad. My mother past away last semester and it really took a toll on my GPA dealing with the funeral and losing her. I included this in the 'explain any extra information section' But here are the stats I have if anyone can help me just see my chances (though I'm sure they are slim, lol)</p>
<p>College GPA: 1.93
HS GPA: 3.4 weighted
ACT score: 28
HS president if red cross for 3 years, editor of year book for 3 years, captain of soccer team and tennis for 1 year, student body president for 1 year and vice for one year.
Current teacher is writing me a recommendation along with my HS advisor</p>
<p>Also, in my essay I explained that 'even though there was a death, it was my own responsibility for doing poorly, no one elses' so i was honest.</p>
<p>Anyone have any idea of what they might say? or is it a hit or miss?</p>
