UMass Amherst University acceptance 2015

@rgr717‌ I know this is disappointing but UMA seems to be overfilling the honors college lately so that is probably why you got such a strong answer. Nonetheless, I’m sure the if she chooses to go to UMA she would have a good shot of transferring into the honors college as long as she gets solid grades. (Which I’m guessing she will) Also the honors college has a avg GPA of 4.25 as of last year and a 1360 SAT (ACT 31) so don’t feel too bummed as she is competing with many SOLID students in the US. (This year it may be even more selective)

My son applied 9/30 and we have still not heard (NY Long Island)…I am assumed it was because he applied into the Engineering program but when I called a very snotty woman informed me that that wasn’t true…I felt like she was reading from a script…“There is no rhyme or reason, it doesn’t matter when you applied, keep checking the portal” That was her answer to every question I asked…My son was just accepted to FSU…UMass has slipped down the totem pole!!

I was also wondering if the $8000 scholarship is per semester aka $16000 a year because it does say “renewable for 8 consecutive semesters”? Thank you and congrats to everyone who was accepted!!!

cbpmom: Our letter said the “renewable for up to 8 consecutive semesters” line but the UMass scholarship webpage says it is an aggregate total for four years up to 8 semesters. That is what prompted us to call FA. We were told that many were calling with the same question. It is, in our case, 10k per yer year NOT per semester. Call on your own to verify b/c I would love to be proven wrong. 10k scholarship per year does not make UMass a contender for us. 20k scholarship per year would bring it in line with our state school prices so it would be in the running if that were the case.

The merit number they quote you is per year not semester

I havent heard anything yet, which has me concerned and applied 2 months ago EA. However I am out of state. Do you think ill get a scholarship and how much for? 3.9 GPA and 2170 SAT score.

@emchda what were your stats, if you dont mind me asking! (since you got such a great scholarship!)

I live 15 minutes away from Boston and applied late October to Isenberg. I haven’t heard a thing yet, but many of my friends who live in the same area as me have heard back! Guess it’s pretty random…hoping to hear back soon because I love the school.

For those who were accepted - what does the mail package look like?

Again, I am wondering how someone could get 24k per semester as that would exceed the total COA even for OOS students (projected to be $39, 770 per our acceptance package).

@Ibad96 - It was in a large envelope in my case with a mix of contents inside. (It has a fairly good weight)

i applied on 9/20 and still haven’t head back

@Halcyon77‌ did it say congratulations on the envelope?

Umassgirl11, no. It’s just a big white envelope with a folder inside. It was pretty basic.

I recently got my acceptance just wondering if anyone knows anything about the campus life and student body?
