On the Spire, I’m still listed as Under Review.

@Maddyher123‌ , your stats are the same as my son’s and he was accepted into engineering program yesterday. He had 3.94 wgpa and 1930 (m,cr,cw) or 1260 (cr,m) sat (the same as yours 29ACT). You will get in, just wait for your turn. Relax. We are in-state.

woah…howd you get your mail in cali all the way? havent gotten mine :(

Lol the stats that people have been posting are extremely skewed towards the upper minority at UMass. Litteraly almost everyone on this tread was accepted into the Honors college. Just serves to show the type of people you find on CC, but I can’t complain I have been lurking here for a while :stuck_out_tongue:

@youTalkintome, my son was accepted into not Honors College, but regular Umass. This CC is not only for college threads, but also is good for parents to do some research about scholarships and other matter what kids would not understand.
@ivyhopefulebound, we are in-state, I mean Massachusetts.LOL

@youTalkintoMe I agree with you-not sure where all the average admits are -maybe too intimidated by the stellar stats being posted? Maybe only high achievers and their parents visit these boards besides me of course…

@CTFootball Yep. I’ve been lurking. Still waiting for SOMETHING from UMass Amherst. Here are my stats:

GPA: ~3.6 UW
Math SAT: 620
Critical Reading SAT: 640
AP Courses: AP English Language and Composition; AP Literature and Composition; AP US History
Class Rank: 26/343
ECs: Volunteer for the ACLU; IWW (Industrial Workers of the World) volunteer; President of the Young Democrats chapter
Essay topic: My experience as an undocumented immigrant/student (from Europe), specifically, the first time I publicly announced my (non)status.

One problem…I failed Algebra II in sophomore year after breaking my ankle, and not quite recovering. I have maintained an A to an A+ in pre-calculus my senior year, so, I have improved.

I’m applying to Computer Science. I program primarily as a hobby, while in academics I’ve focused in the liberal arts (as evidenced by my ECs). We’ll see how it goes. Already got rejected from WPI. So I’m looking forward to UMass Amherst. Should be interesting! Oh, the anxiety…

I’ll be sure to post here once I receive a decision!

@unixkid. Those look like solid stats for UMASS although I don’t know much about the CS major and how competitive it is. As for failing one class due to a health condition I would think they could look past that. Best of Luck!

@CTFootball‌
Male applicant from NJ
GPA: 2.7 UW
SAT 2400: 2000 (660 CR, 550 M, 790 W)
Strength of Curriculum: all regular college prep courses except for AP Euro this year.
ECs: Co-organizer of candlelight vigil/Co-founder of memorial FB page in honor of deceased schoolmate who died of the flu, Young Democrats Club, Gifts of Gold Club, Support Our Troops Club, Helping Hands Club
Essay Topic: sophomore year trauma - being evicted from apartment mid year.
Hooks: URM (African-American)

My family’s eviction was the cause of my massive sophomore year downfall that has caused my overall GPA to be so poor. However, I showed a great upward trend in junior year, doing well in classes that went against the recommendations of my teachers from the previous year.

I applied as a Management major, although I do have “undecided” as a backup plan. I’ve also shown as much interest as possible WITHOUT visiting. I applied on August 1st (first day of the CA going live), I’ve been to rep visits, asked a lot of questions during those rep visits, sent thank-you emails demonstrating my interest, called/emailed the admissions office a bunch of times in the spring and summer, and called my admissions rep a few weeks back telling her how much I really want to attend. As you can probably tell, UMASS is my FIRST choice. I’ll be very upset if I am not accepted EA.

@lbad96 I wish you the best of luck. Seems like we share (some) things in common, e.g. sophomore year downfall. By the way, great SAT scores - especially writing.

@unixkid‌ thanks, friend! Excellent GPA and course rigor to you! God willing, this great university has room for both of us.

Any one staying up till 12?

@youTalkintoMe‌ I literally felt sick today because of anxiety. I don’t want to wake up tomorrow feeling like total crap.

@youTalkintome Got my package in the mail today and my Spire logon is still not updated. You may get mail before any online updates…

@lbad96 congrats on your high SAT score in writing! It sounds like you’ve done all the right things to let UMass know how interested you are which is great. I do think that a visit is important if you can swing it not to just show interest but to be sure UMass is the school for you. Hopefully your upward trend and high SAT score can outweigh the lower GPA. I would definitely have a plan if they admit you undecided as the business school is super competitive. Best of luck to you!

@lbad96‌ Well, assuming we both make it in, perhaps we could continue our political activism on campus (seeing as you are a member of the Young Democrats)! There’s the ISO (<a href=“- UMass Campus Pulse”>https://umassamherst.collegiatelink.net/organization/internationalsocialistorganization/about</a>) and the UDems (<a href=“- UMass Campus Pulse”>https://umassamherst.collegiatelink.net/organization/udems</a>). I’m personally a democratic socialist, so I’ll join both :slight_smile:

@TheClassyCuber, yes, me too!!!

Student Gender: Female

Home State: Virginia

Date Applied: Oct. 8 2014

Date Accepted: Dec. 16 2014

SAT Scores (m/r/w) 640/690/660

ACT Score Composite: 31

Weighted GPA: 4.371

Have you visited the campus?: Nope!
But I plan on visiting on one of the admitted students days.

Major: Public Health (BS)

Applying to the Honors College?: I didn’t, but they invited me into the program.

Career goal(s): Research abroad with infectious disease.

Any else you’d like to mention: $12,000 Chancellor award per semester… Way more than I was expecting…

@CTFootball‌ thank you!! I’m definitely planning on visiting if I’m accepted. I really hope they actually do consider level of interest in admissions.

@unixkid‌ ah, great idea! Thanks! :)

@Ivyclimber117-Congratulations! I believe your scholarship is $12k per year, not per semester. this question came up earlier in this thread. My d called admissions to clarify and it is per year.
