<p>UMass Amherst's 10-step process for applications states that under Part 6 of their application is the personal statement, for which is given a specific prompt to use. Since I'm not using their application, should I just pick a topic from the common app list or select "topic of your own choice" and use UMass Amherst's prompt? Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>I would think it would be fine to use any topic you want from the common app choices, should you use the common app.</p>
