Hi folks,
my daughter has just been admitted to Umass Amherst and BU. At Umass Amherst they want to put her in the Commonwealth Honors College while at BU she would just be another student. Do any of you have any experience with the CHC and would it be better for her in the long run rather than shelling out over $100,000 for a BU tuition? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the CHC. Plus, UMass offers just about every major there is.
We were there at the open house for admitted students and we got to talk to real students currently in the program. One student who we talked to was finishing her senior year and chose CHC over Harvard, Brown and Cornell - and she never looked back.

A lot of schools have been tripling up roommates due to lack of space but CHC guarantees freshman a double (which is larger than other on campus housing). Also, the honors courses are limited to 24 or less. If a CHC student wants to take a course that is not offered in the honors program, they just have to find one more honors student who is also interested and they will make it a class. 2 students makes a class.

I don’t know where D will choose to go, but I won’t be disappointed if its CHC!
