Hi everyone,

I am looking into UMass Lowell as it would be my cheapest option, because it is an easy commute and I am in-state. I know the engineering and science programs are solid, but I am also interested in Accounting, among other things. Is UMass Lowell a comparable, all-around education to other (more expensive) area schools such as Stonehill, Saint A's, Bryant, Quinnipiac, and UNH? I have been admitted to all of these schools and I am wondering if it is worth the 40k cost for the other schools if UMass Lowell is a good value.

Thanks in advance.

Check out this link that shares PayScale.coms national survey of graduates with bachelors degrees found that the median mid-career salary for UMass Lowell is $91,000, the highest of any public institution in New England. The starting salary is $47,600, the survey found.

My son was accepted to Bentley, UNH and UMass Amherst and while, of course, cost is always a consideration, we were beyond impressed by the facilities and faculty at the Accepted Students and Welcome Days. Value-wise it can’t be beat, their Business Dept is fully accredited and with their new Business Facility opening in two years it’s only getting better. Also, you should check out the dorming options - my son will be living in their Business Living Learning Community that has a brand new dining hall onsite and they have beautiful new upperclassmen suites as well. Not the commuter school it was up until recently, even kids from Lowell are choosing to live there.

My son was accepted into UMass Amherst, Umass Dartmouth, UMass Lowell and Northeastern. We also chose UMass Lowell. With 2 new Dorms, 2 new classroom bldgs & 2 new garages opening in the past year the campus has a new look. There is another huge building scheduled to be opening in the next year. At UML he is a student in the Honors College with it’s own dorm right on North Campus. He loves the size of school - not too big - not too small. With the scholarships he received it was also our cheapest option. He is very happy with the class size at UML whereas at UMass Amherst the classes would have been huge. We both feel it was a great decision. It is really a hidden gem but with all the recent press about it I am afraid it won’t be that way for long.

true, I am a current student in UML and I can definitely see the growth in this school
