I am an internayional student- I had got accptance for B.S. Computer science from UIUC , Georgia Tech and Purdie and after much yhinking I sent my acceptance for UIUC, Today I recieved a communication from UMASS amherest for acceptance wiyh a 10K scholarship-their basic tution fees + scholarship amount will make the costing half of that of UIUC.Finance is an important concern but is the CS at undergraduate level in UMASS good enough for me to rethink my decision - kindly guide. Thanks in advance

How much is money an issue?

Keep in mind that tuition increases every year. The $26,000 bill at UCIC in your first year will probably turn into a $32,000 bill your senior year. Your extra expenses will likely also be a lot higher than the $2,500 UCIC estimates. For example, the health insurance included in your tuition fees pays only 80% of your medical expenses and does not cover dental work at all. A single medical incident could cost you thousands of dollars. You might need a new computer at some point because your old one breaks. You might want to go home once or twice a year. Etc. Budget at least $5,000 a year for expenses beyond tuition, room and board.

If you can save money ,it is always welcome.Though both my parents re doctors and I am their only child,we had mentally prepared ourselves for the expenses at uiuc-however I was told that if you work hard and do well in first year you can get some scholarship at uiuc in second year and also do some TA jobs.
when i was looking about Umass at wikipaedia it was mentioned that in 2005 it was ln news for being on of the most crime prone universities? Is the security concern still there at Umass ?
