I got a 3.2 GPA and 1210 SAT from high school and went to a community college for one semester and got a 3.7. I want to do computer science. Do I have a chance of getting in for the Fall 2019 term?
I want to transfer too! I go to the University of Kansas to and want to transfer to umass in Fall 2019.
I have a 3.65 GPA, and made deans honor roll this fall.
my high school gpa was unweighted 3.0 and weighted 3.5
it says if you have a 504 plan you don’t need to send your ACT scores, so imma do that.
I have many community service and extra activities, especially w special education students which is what I want to study in the long run. so im gonna send my personal essay on that. which came out awesome
I took 12 credits in fall 2018 and will be taking 15 in spring 2019
any advice?

The only way to know for sure is to apply and see what happens. Computer science is quite competitive. I think that your chances would be better if you can maintain a high GPA for three semesters and apply a year from now.
However, there is no harm in applying now (other than an application fee and the effort to apply). If you get in you can transfer. If you don’t get in you can apply again next year. All that they will think if you do this when they see your second application is (i) you are serious about transferring; and (ii) you have continued to maintain your good grades in community college. Do try to keep your grades up as much as you can at community college, and expect U.Mass Amherst to be a bit more difficult if you do get accepted there.
Your chances would of course be a lot better at U.Mass Lowell. However, to me it would probably be worth applying to U.Mass Amherst now, and if you don’t get in this year then continue at community college and apply to both schools in a year.
ex2x01: because you’re applying to CS, UMass Amherst will want your high school stats. Your college grades are very good, but your HS stats are a bit low for them. Did you take the pre-reqs for CS yet? If you have not, then that’s not going to help you. If you did, then how did you do in them? That will help.
jennakors: you’re applying as an education major or similar? If so, then you have a decent shot at getting in. Your stats look good.
