I am currently a highschool senior, and I was admitted to Temple University to the engineering school, and I was also admitted to the Umass Amherst school of natural sciences. I would like to be an engineer, but I would also like to explore the school of natural sciences. I understand that transferring to engineering within a university is very hard and not always guaranteed
I don’t know much about the engineering program in Temple University, does anybody know if it is a good program?
What would you recommend I do?
Yes it’s strong and ABET accredited.
Will you have AP credit that frees some space for you to explore some science classes outside the Engineering curriculum? Have you looked at 4-year plans for each major you’re considering?
Which has the most affordable net cost?*
Are you waiting for more decisions?
- (Tuition, fees, room, board) -(grants, scholarships)
I am currently taking AP calc.
The price is around the same, I am an international student, so I can’t get need based federal financial aid.
I am waiting for University of Delaware and University of Pittsburgh.
I have seen that Temple engineering is not so high ranked and the campus is not the safest
It’s good for Engineering but Delaware and Pitt are better. If you want to do Engineering don’t do natural sciences as switching is difficult and a risky gamble.
Thank you.
Is computer engineering also accredited by abbet?
Will temple be able to get me a good job after?
Will temple get me into a good gradschool?
Look it up on the ABET website
Are you a US citizen? You can get a good job if you do well in college regardless of the college, provided Engineering is ABET accredited (CS doesn’t have to be ABET accredited).
Grad school will depend on grades, GRE scores, and research. It’ll depend on you, and it helps if you’re in the honors college at any of these.
Thank you MYOS1634 you have been very helpful.
I will have my green card by next year.
I recently got accepted to the university of delaware engineering. Would you recommend I go there over all the rest?
So, it’s Temple engineering v. UDel Engineering? Is the cost similar?
Yes almost same cost
Does university of Delaware have a good and well recognized engineering program?
@ymagendzo see my response on your other post. Delaware has a great reputation for engineering and is a more traditional college campus than Temple which is urban. However, DE is very accessible to Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore/DC are for internship opportunities.
