and honors for both?

UMBC leaves you more academically prepared than UMCP, even though it doesn’t have the name behind it. In a difficult concentration like pre-med, you need all the individual attention you can get. UMBC’s considerably smaller, without being so small you’re constantly bored. I’m going to UMBC next year as a biochem major in the Meyerhoff Program. Their academics are what sold me.

drmrbrian, yeah the size is whats pulling me towards going to UMBC!

does anyone have any stats??

I’ve heard that UMBC has a better bio program and that they do get a lot of medical school acceptances or at least around the same amount as CP does, but I’ve also heard things about the UMBC premed program declining??

even if it is declining, they have the highest acceptance rate to any grad schools among all universities in MD.

I don’t know the stats exactly but I find it hard to believe that UMBC has higher grad school acceptance rates than Johns Hopkins.
Show your sources.

UMBC has been known for decades for their bio/med field and if that is your fiield go UMBC.

While attending the spring open house at University of Maryland, I found out overall 66% of applicants applying to medical school get accepted. 88% get accepted in medical school whom the University deems great meaning g.pa over 3.5 and MCAT score over 30. Comparing with UMBC, the pre-med advisor said that UMBC’s acceptance rate to medical school is 41%. The national average is 43%. By looking at the numbers, UMBC is below the average while College park is above. It’s true that UMBC has a better bio program, but University of Maryland has a better pre-med, giving you more oppurtunities, experiences, and advising.
