UMCP or UMBC? Help PLEASE!

I got admitted to College Park, but I did not get in their business school which was not very surprising to me. However, I did get accepted to UMBC's business school. College Park put me in its Letters and Science program, which is the undecided major.

I am thinking about transferring from UMBC to CP in about a year or two because I heard that it will make the process of getting to CPs business school a lot easier. But, I do not want to give up on my opportunity to go to College Park. Is it as hard to get in CP as a transfer student? I think I also have the risk of getting rejected when I want to transfer.

I read the Markets and Society webpage (still Letters and Sciences), and it seems like a whole lot of work. ALso, the acceptance rate from that program is very unstable.

Which has the better college life? Heard that UMBC can be empty at times.

I have to make my decision by tomorrow. Money is not a problem for me and I will be living on either campus. Please help me if you can.

Thanks guys!

I would go with umcp …I didn’t even know umbc had a business school. If you work hard enough you should be able to get into smith. You can also try to think beyond your major also. Which school’s campus life do you like better ? Also, umcp is closer to D.C so think of all the business and non-business related internships you can get. I feel umcp has more resources than umbc but thats just my personal opinion. My sister graduated from Robert H. Smith and she now works at Ernest & Young and before that she worked at T.Rowe Price and she 100% believes that umcp business school really helped her out.

If your ultimate goal is to get into UMCP’s Business School, I think you would be much better off to start there. You can apply later to change from Letters and Sciences to Business. Note…your comment about being concerned that Markets and Society is “like a whole lot of work”…you’re going to need an awesome GPA either at UMCP or UMBC to transfer into the UMCP Business School. If you’re not willing to do what it takes, then you won’t have much “luck” getting in, no matter which option you choose.
