@blue2000 yeah, someone with a 1540 or 33 act shouldn’t be worried lol
@PranayPatel it would be hard to wait that long since the terp bus launched last weekend!
@blue2000 people can be thoughtless – Crossing my fingers for good news for you!!
how do we find out our decisions? Is there a portal or is it through an email?
@syd24ranger
you get email and then its posted on the coalition application site supposedly. First year they are doing this
@A1A1A1 Huh, thats weird. Guess its probably not tonight but maybe soon. One of the application questions asked “what did you do last tuesday” so many they’re gonna release it on a tuesday to do something cute? Just a thought
@blue2000 I know what you mean but don’t feel bad. While reading last year’s decision thread I saw a few students with SAT scores in the 1100-1300 range and GPAs in the mid B level range that were accepted. Stay optimistic and don’t let the posts here get you down. CC is only a small representation of prospective students.
UMD has been using the “My favorite thing about last Tuesday was…” question for years now. I do not think there is a correlation between releasing the decision on a Tuesday and that question. Based on reading this thread, it looks like they release on a Friday usually to give a cool-down to reduce the number of calls they receive. Hoping for decisions tomorrow!
I am an in-state student, first-generation college student, with a 3.33 unweighted and 3.81 weighted with a 1340 on the sat 700 math and 640 on English I have done lots of extracurricular activities such as the NHS(national honors society) and I am also captain of the Robotics team at my school. I am 72 out of 301 students in my class I have taken 5 AP level courses in my high school career with most of my schedule being G/T or honors. I applied as a computer science major. What are my chances???
@blue2000 and @nsl123 True that… Too many “chance me” posts.
Not very useful unless someone is really looking for help building a balanced list of schools…
I have been stressing about about this because umd is my #1 choice so I was just wondering what you guys may think
I wanted to post a few thoughts on here. I’ve been following this forum for 5 years now, first lurking then posting.
On page 27 here, I listed the exact decision dates of the last 4 years. I looked up each year’s decision thread. Each year, the decisions were released at 4:45PM.
One thing to consider when looking at previous decision threads, and this one, is the number of people posting. This year UMD got 25,000 Priority applications. How many of those participate, or even view, this thread — 200, 250, 500? It’s a very small percentage of the total and it’s not a good basis for drawing any specific conclusions.
Also, UMD is a Public State University. The Flagship, and it is required by law, to have a certain percentage of it;s Freshman class made up of in-state students. I think that percentage is somewhere between 70 and 80 percent.
From what I have seen on here, admittedly a small sample size, UMD awards merit scholarships without regard to in-state or out-of -state status.
I also do not think that UMD is delaying decisions till Friday for any “cool down” reasons. They have been releasing decisions for decades. They do it when they are ready. They don’t want to make any mistakes. Their decision really is holistic.
I know that the waiting is stressful. I still remember when my D was waiting and I really do hope that they come out tomorrow.
Good Luck, everyone
My college counselor talked to the admissions rep and they told her they will be posted tomorrow around 5
@SoofDad thank you for that info really super anxious about this decision
@SoofDad thank you - that was super helpful. Any idea how the 25,000 Priority Applications compares to other years and the % of those that might be accepted?
Guys lol I made UVA I don’t think I’ll be coming to UMD but seriously good luck to all of you!
@50staterunner - I’ve never been able to find reliable numbers on that. I’ve seen some people say 50%.of the Priority applicants get accepted. Last year, UMD had a total of 34,000 applications (Priority and RD) and 15,000 were admitted.
does anyone know if honors and scholars invites are sent with the acceptance or if it comes out later?
How sure are we that decisions will be released tmrw? (Friday, 1/26)
So so so so nervous. Good luck to everyone…hopefully it wasn’t too selective of a year!!
Will the decision be posted on my coalition?
