Umd college park vs. Penn state

So, I was accepted to both the University of Maryland and Penn State (University Park) as an undecided undergrad... Any thoughts? I'm pretty torn.

Depending on if money is a major concern for you… these are the out-of-state costs for both universities…
UMD- $23,990
PSU- $25,946

This may help you as well, the colleges at a glance

Have you visited both places? They are in very different environments. I think UMD College Park is a better university. In what subject do you want to major?

thanks (: financial costs aren’t a major factor…
I’m undecided because I can’t narrow my interests down. However, I’m definitely more of a history/english student. And yea, I stayed at UMD over the summer… I liked both environments (the fact that UMD is close to DC and the fact that although PSU is kinda in the middle of nowhere, the students are still entertained). That’s why I’m so torn :/

anyone elsee?

Add about $10,000 to the $25,000 for PSU out of state tuition.

^PSU is around 25k for out of state.

According to PSU’s website, the total billable cost of attendance for OOS freshman as and undecided major is $34,566. That includes tuition, fees and room and board.

I don’t see Umd as any better than PSU. Most rankings show PSU>>UMd.

The SAT scores at UMD are 70-80 points higher than at PSU.

So what?? That is the most useless stat for looking at colleges known to man. You could replace it with family income and get virtually the same results.

UMD is much better than PSU. I mean they were a 4 seed and Penn State was last in the Big 10. Even though Talor Battle is great, Greivis Vasquez is an animal. I’d go with the Terps. However, PSU football is a lot better. Yeah it’s a tough decision.

I’d definitely go with psu, I’m biased but I hate umd and onu applied because it’s my moms Alma mater and my instate school but I hate college park… So I like psu

Depends. I don’t like UMD because I’m an Annapolis native–too close, and the area is far too sketchy for me to want to stroll around campus at night. Maryland’s not the most fun state–your best bet for entertainment is taking the Metro down to DC/Chevy Chase/Bethesda. However, I hear the parties are fabulous and the campus feel is pretty nice. They’re pretty big on diversity too, so if you’re into that I’d check it out. Can’t help you on PSU…good luck!

yesss it is a very tough decisionnn!

It would be all about the money for me.

Depending on your perspective, this may convince you Penn State is just the right place to spend 4 years or make you vow never to set foot on campus. Good luck whatever your decision.

They could make that show at just about any major university.
