UMD-CP vs. UDel

I'm a HS senior from NJ and I was accepted into the business schools at both universities. I was just looking for some opinions/advice on which to choose. Here's the way I look at it....

Maryland Pros:
- Big time sports/Campus spirit
- Extremely strong business program/overall prestige (very impressed by presentation when I visited)
- Close to major cities like Balt. and DC (social + internships/job opps)
- Less kids from my town go there

Delaware Pros:
- I liked the campus better (smaller size, nice main street, etc)
- Cheaper (decent size scholarship)
- Better social life outside of sports (not a "bar school" like UMD is)
- Student body I feel I can identify with more IMO
- Easier on my GPA (?)

I know UMD is superior academically, especially in business, but UMD seemed a bit large for me. Would the program at UMD really make my future that much brighter than if I went to Delaware? My parents want me to go to Udel since it's closer to home and cheaper, but money isn't a big issue and I don't want to miss out on something that would set me up significantly better for a better career in the future. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would go to UMD-CP because it is more selective, better fellow students, more prestigious. DC is accessible by rail from College Park.

There is no academic comparision - this is a no brainer - Maryland.

But it depends on how much more it would cost.

Udel would be about 8k cheaper per year so not huge, but still a good amount

bumping this

8k per year x four years = 32k

You can do an awful lot with 32k

Run the numbers through this calculator, and talk with your parents about just exactly what they would mean for you: [FinAid | Calculators | Advanced Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid)

Based on what you said about the Delaware pros, it seems like you think you will fit better there. That is a perfectly valid reason to select a college.

Thanks for your help! Anyone else care to weigh in?

Okay if 32 K would be your TOTAL debt than I would go to Maryland - if it is any more than that then go to Delaware.
