UMD Early Action Class of 2025

Same, I would like to know as well. Is everyone getting into the FIRE Research Program?

OOS Accepted!
CGPA: 4.0
ACT/SAT: 1530

Decision/Major: Accepted into Letters and Sciences (Applied as CS Major)

I got invited into the FIRE program. Does anyone know anything about that? Is that good or not?

Is there anyone else who was supposed to hear back but hasnā€™t?

yes

You can read about the FIRE program here. It is good in that it offers certain opportunities and not everyone is offered that. My son is currently in the ā€œBIOFIREā€ program.

Same here. Sent an email to admissions recruiter. Havenā€™t heard back.

the admissions office is closed over the weekend, and they usually take 2 weeks to process an email.

Youā€™re probably right. The recruiter we dealt with leading up to applying would get back right away usually.

Iā€™m pretty sure all decisions will be out by Feb 1, so Iā€™m guessing that if you havenā€™t gotten a decision yet it could just be due to the fact that not all decisions have been sent out. Good luck to everyone still waiting. (I am too).

Your application might be considered incomplete. You indicated that you wanted your scores to be considered, but you didnā€™t submit the official scores.

I believe Merit comes out before March 1st, does anyone know the chance of getting Merit if you were not offered an honors college? I tend to think they go hand in hand, but trying to see if Merit might come our way even if no Honors college offered with acceptance to the Smith Business School.

UMD does not give out a Lot of Merit Scholarships. In fact a majority of the students in the Honors College have not gotten Merit Scholarships.

UMD has probably admitted well over 12,000 students in the EA round and about 4,000 have been admitted to the Honors College. Only 400 of those will be invited to interview for the B/K Scholarship. About 250 will get the Full scholarship and 150 will get a Partial scholarship and only about 150 will actually enroll.

UMD also gives out about 400 2-year Deanā€™s scholarships to In-State students.

There are also Presidential Scholarships up to $12,000 a year. I donā€™t know how many of these they give out.

Thanks so much, makes sense and so will assume not to accept it.

Is your weighted GPA also 4.0 ? Your SAT is pretty high. I do not know why you are not accepted as CS Major.

Did anyone received formal acceptance letter only on today ? I do not understand.
Some students received decision on last Friday but some are still waiting. Are those not received decision on Friday are all deferred to regular decision ?

I didnā€™t get into the honors college, do I have any chance of getting any aid/scholarships? I got invited into FIRE program if that counts for anything and Iā€™m also out of state.

Everyone who applied by Nov. 1 will be considered for merit scholarships. Most of the students admitted to the Honors College do not get scholarships. Financial aid is usually the Standard Federal Student Loans.

I was just wondering the chances of getting merit scholarships if I didnā€™t get into the honors college. Thank you.

No one can say what your chances are.
