UMD or U of Pitt

I have been accepted to the University of Maryland at College Park (UMD) and the University of Pittsburgh, and my issue is that I can’t decide between either one. For UMD, I have been accepted into their Computer Science program with a focus on Cybersecurity and for the U of Pitt as an undeclared major. I applied to both as a transfer student. Also, I want a Comp Sci degree pretty badly.
I am already technically committed to Pitt because I paid the enrollment fee and I registered for classes. UMD recently sent me my acceptance letter, and I have 30 days to respond.

I will be utilizing the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Though the GI Bill has up 36 months’ worth of funds, which is around 90,000 dollars; I am afraid that the money will run out if I choose Pitt. In addition to that, I feel it would take longer to complete my degree at Pitt because I need to finish the prerequisite courses for Comp Sci first.
Both schools are excellent, and I can imagine myself going to both. I was hoping someone could provide me with a different perspective, which could help with my decision.

I would give the academic edge, especially in CS, to UMD. If UMD is also the more economical option, and you are already accepted into your major, seems like UMD is a great choice. Hopefully losing the Pitt deposit isn’t too substantial of a hit.

UMD looks like a better option for you. You can accept that admissions offer, and let Pitt know that your plans have changed. You will most likely lose your deposit, but that probably osn’t a big deal in the greater scheme of things. Make certain that you are completely untangled from Pitt and that your class registrations are completely cancelled, so that you don’t get billed For anything.

Pitt is a great school, but for CS, go to UMD. Make sure to follow up with Pitt on cancelling your registration as @happymomof1 suggested.
