@LaceFaceM I can say that you can’t sign up for classes until orientation which there are few options for orientation. For arts and humanities, the only date that was still available was January 18th which means most classes will be filled. Some classes are supposed to be saved for transfers, but most go in the first session which was at the beginning of December.
And another thing…
The FAFSA emails from the school state January 1st as the deadline, so if people won’t know until at least January 2nd they won’t be able to apply?
@LaceFaceM since it’s for fafsa for next year put down all schools you might be at. My friend used to do that each year for every school she was interested in case she transferred that year. They don’t make a package until your accepted anyway so you’re not losing anything by putting it down since there is no penalty. And most schools once you start attending don’t make an award package for the next school year until June or July.
does anyone have any idea what is going on
Still haven’t heard back—I sent an email this morning. Has anyone heard anything?
No, have called them twice after holidays but no concert answer.
I haven’t heard anything from them, they replied my email saying my decision will be out in the next few business days…this really sucks cause I need to start registering for classes and finding a job and apartment close to school…
@tolouse if accepted I suggest that you talk to the professors of the classes you want to be in since a lot of the classes are waitlisted at this point. Last orientation before classes starts on Wednesday the 24th I believe is this Friday, but I believe advising is letting students do alternative orientation where they come into the advising office. Do you live in Maryland close to UMD? I wanted an apartment, but I had to settle with commuting since I haven’t heard back from financial aid and was told it could be 4-6 weeks when I was on campus last week.
@adorse26 do you think that most engineering classes would be waitlisted at this moment? i’m hoping to God i can settle into an apartment before school starts…still waiting for a decision…
@tolouse, I am an art major and all my classes are waitlisted. I am still trying to get into classes. Engineering has way more students, so I would expect that they are. My advisor recommended talking to the professor teaching because they can make an exception and that students can still get in during the first two weeks since that is add/drop. I sent the professor a message for a class I needed this semester last week stating I was a new student, and why I needed. She agreed to let me in on the first day. You can look here to see what classes are waitlisted by subject: https://ntst.umd.edu/soc/
