UMD Spring Admit Scholarships?

Hello.

I was accepted as a UMD Spring admit and I was wondering if we do not get considered for scholarships at all.. Thank you!

I don’t think you understand how scholarships work. Scholarships are used to gain leverage to attract students who are accepted into better schools. As in they’re throwing money at students because they want them at UMD. On the opposite spectrum, you were denied of attending during the Fall.

You could have said that more nicely

^
I second that. A real lack of tact and class in that response.

A spring admission IS an admission, NOT a denial.

That means Maryland DOES want these students to attend also!

As for merit scholarships, Maryland does not have the huge endowments like private universities do, so most students (fall and spring admit alike) do not get merit money.

That does not mean that you won’t be considered for need-based scholarships. Call the office of financial aid to get the most accurate information.

Congrats on your acceptance - you will absolutely love Maryland!

Congratulations for getting into UMD College Park. Super hard school to get into. I also was accepted in Spring Admittance. I am curious if you did end up going and how that worked out for you?

@LiveinMass - As @maryversity pointed out UMD does not have a great deal of scholarship money to give out. My D was accepted into the Honors college and did not get any scholarship money. That being said, my D has a very good friend from high you was in the Freshman Connection program. Her friend lived in Denton Hall which is actually very close to my D’s dorm. Freshman Connection Fall 2014 is now over and every one is a regular admit. Based on my observations, here is my assessment of the Freshman Connection program

FC Cons - you have later classes

 • You cannot play Division I sports

FC Pros - You get to live in a dorm on campus

 • You get to have a meal plan
 • You can attend athletic events, football games, etc…
 • You get to attend social events
 • You get to attend parties…
 • No cares that you are in Freshman connection
 • You get to start you college life in Fall 2015, just like everyone else

Good Luck

@SoofDad‌ you said it perfectly. No one cares that you were in fc once it’s over, and frankly they don’t even know unless you tell them.

Thanka you @soofDad. I do not play div 1 sports and I think later classes could be a pro if you like to sleep in late!
