UMD Transfer 2016 Fall

@LustinJack12 I’m not sure what my cumulative GPA is, it is probably between a 3.05-3.15. I’m also a journalism major

@relyks0022 hmm… you’ll probably get into the university, just keep in mind that journalism at UMD is an let program which means its competitive, your have a good amount of credits, can you check my stats and see if you can say the same for me?

@hellobellow I agree with LustinJack. I think the best way to know for sure is to call. Call tomorrow morning ASAP. I looked at the Fall 2015 Transfer Thread and I read that a lot of people did not get their decision because the school did not get all the materials by the March 1st deadline, so I called and I DM their twitter page to make sure I was being reviewed for priority deadline and I wanted something in writing, so if any troubles occur I can use the message. Their twitter is @ApplyMaryland. I hope everything works out and I hope this helped a little!

@LustinJack12 I’m so scared that I won’t get in because of that 2.8 this first semester. But it was hard adjusting, now I’m doing good though. I think you’ll be admitted since you’re a part of MTAP and you have above a 3.0, I think they use your HS info to see if you’ve improved! So you have a really good part. Will journalism effect my chances of being accepted into Maryland?

@relyks0022 not really, I think the average gpa for journalism was like a 2.7-2.9. Im pretty sure you got in, your internship proves it

I hope you’re right! @LustinJack12. Well good luck to you  cause this week is going to be stressful for all of us lol.

someone asked on twitter when transfer decisions will be available and they said “transfer decisions for 3/1 applicants will be put in mid-April…very soon!” i hope “very soon” means this week!!

I applied priority and I’m apart of the MTAP Program

Stats-
3.1 gpa ( 45 credits) and I have 15 in progress this semester
2 RL
Pretty alright essay and extracurricular activities
I go to MC (Montgomery College)
I’m Pre-Physical Therapy so I’m majoring in Kinesiology.
Hopefully we all get in!

Under my application submission date (3/1) it says application completed on 4/9, which was literally yesterday. What dates do you guys have for that? I sent everything in before the priority deadline so I am confused as to why its saying my application wasn’t complete until yesterday. Is this normal? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

@uvafall2016 Mine also says the same thing. It literally changes everyday and I have no idea why and I submitted my application on 2/28.

It updates overtime you log in, mines say the same thing too and I have all my stuff in

Phew! Thanks so much guys!

Last year, admissions released decisions on April 14, 2015 for the 2015 fall semester. I’m assuming that they might be released the same day.

I applied priority for Gov’t and Politics, but put down an alternative of English Lit since G&P is an LED major.

I’m a little nervous because my situation is very unique and so far no one has been able to give much advice on how MD admissions will handle my case.

I’m currently an International Relations and Arabic student at the University of St Andrews in the UK (ranked right after Oxbridge and approx. 50th in the world, just so you can get an idea of what it’s rep is like, since you probably don’t know much about it). Our IR program is regarded one of the best in the world and I’m not quite sure how my GPA would be regarded to an American admissions counselor. For St. Andrews standard, my GPA is above average for a first year, since they treat us like upperclassman and don’t count the GPA of our first two years in our cumulative at graduation.

Here are my stats in case anyone is familiar with the Scottish university grading scale, along with my HS stats:
1st Semester GPA: ~12.0
HS GPA: 3.8/4.1
SATs: 2010
6 AP classes
ECs: Ballet dancer into college, assistant makeup artist into college, Sailing club, writer for 2 university magazines, Modern Languages Society, Law Society, & probably more things I’m not remembering
I also did a summer program at Oxford for students who want to study law.

I’m really nervous since decisions will most likely be coming out this week and I’m direly hoping for an early birthday present!

@LustinJack12 So anxious to hear back, hopefully this week!

My stats:
applied priority; applied for journalism school as well but I’d be fine with L&S as long as I get in!
applied w/ 15 credits from instate school; will have completed 30 by the end of this semester
3.8 GPA cum
works in the office of the provost at university
hs gpa: 2.9 cum from a prestigious private high school
SAT: 1600
2 great recommendation letters from high school

I applied as a first time freshman, but was declined… hopefully they recognize my improvement! what do you think about my chances? hopefully you all get in as well!

@jdsmith97 what instate school do you go to right now? But your grades are pretty good, I think you will get in, good luck!

@LustinJack12 Bowie State University

Hey guys I don’t mean to ruin everyones week but I just called the office of undergraduate admissions and they told me that after april 15th is considered “mid-april”, she also told me that some of the applications have still not been reviewed yet and most likely the decisions will come out next week during the 18th-22th smh.

Ugh the previous years have been released between the 10th - 16th

I am checking my email about twice an hour waiting for this decision. I won’t be able to handle it if they don’t come out for another week.
