I applied for Fall but didn’t get accepted I believe due to not having a math credit.
I have the English credit, but math is in progress right now as I am taking it for fall semester
I have a 3.0 gpa on a 4.0 scale, I am currently a sophomore
I own a magazine that’s verified and averages 100,000+ views a month, I have been to 15 countries and do a lot of global journalism.
All the classes I have taken are international affairs based
Applying for regular deadline
Your stats are good but since your GPA is on the lower side you wont have a really great chance in getting in for regular decision. Regular decision is really competitive and I know this first hand because I had a 3.2 gpa and they didn’t have enough space for me. This year I applied for the priority spring semester. To be honest, your best luck would have been priority for fall. Best luck to you! @agalkenya1997
I didn’t do so well my freshman year at community college so I’m really worried if that will affect my acceptance…
I did go to one of umd’s partnered community colleges, GPA: 2.9, 41 credits finished, 9 credits left unfinished (finished all my core classes, and maintained an A), I chose the music major for UMD. Also I applied for early decision.
@rawrxmish My G.P.A is 2.85, I am about to have my A.A.T in Early Childhood Education. (They say having an A.A degree doesn’t affect acceptance.) I had applied by the priority decision (Aug 1) I just received my decision today. So I think that you still have a good chance.
I applied regular decision, too. I had a 3.5 GPA from a VA CC (last semester 4.0), but transferred to GW in the fall. I decided Maryland might be a better fit for me than GW. Also, I’m applying to the Physics major. I’ll post back when I receive my decision!
Good luck to everyone! I applied for admission for the Fall 2016 and was admitted, however, I chose to attend the University of Rochester instead. I feel UMD would be the best option for me for various reasons and therefore am hoping to get admitted for this Spring semester. I came from Montgomery College and graduated with a 3.3 GPA with 20+ honors credits. We should be hearing back this week right?
@Poloman123 We both might have the multiple transfer thing in common! I think we’ll hear back on the fifteenth- that’s when students did last year. Obviously, hopefully sooner, though.
Does anyone know if UMD gives financial aid info on the same day of admittance, or how soon afterwards…?
Hi, I applied to UMD for the spring on regular decision. I am currently a freshman at Towson University. I should be hearing back from UMD this week, but I’m pretty nervous.
I know that by having little college experience it can make it harder for me to get for next semester. I should finish this semester with a GPA between a 3.6 and 3.8. I did alright in high school, but I was an exchange student my junior year. I also landed an internship at this investment company during my first semester of college. I have numerous volunteer experiences ranging from teaching English in Chile and helping with reconstruction after the Chilean earthquake in 2010. I know this is a lot but what do you think my chances are of getting in for next semester?
Oh man, does having less college experience really negatively impact your chances? I’m also a freshman at a 4-year university applying to UMD in the spring. Currently taking 16 credits, probably going to have a GPA around 3.7 at the end of the semester. In high school I had a good GPA (4.0 unweighted/ 4.7 weighted) and graduated with the IB diploma. Hoping that my good standing in high school will be enough to counteract the lack of college experience!
No I haven’t heard anything. I thought decisions were going to come out today, but I guess not. I think they are coming out tomorrow then. Usually, they send decisions out at 4:45
