I want to pursue my undergraduate degree in Computer Science/IT.

I am accepted at UMD Duluth, but into Business/Economics. So, if I accept UMD, then I will have to start with Business, then complete the pre-reqs before I try for a transfer to the computer Science.

I like Eau Claire because I can start in IT from Sem I, it's cheaper compared to UMD, it's only an hour drive from my home in Woodbury. I like the campus also.

My goal for going to college is to get involved in lot of ECs, build character, study hard, play hard, may be party a little, and most importantly, start career in a cutting technology field.

Appreciate your thoughts and input.

S2 is a CS major at a southern school, but we did look at University of WI-Eau Claire as I was very impressed with what I read about the CS degree/department on their website. We did not meet with anybody from the CS area, but we did tour the campus and the science areas, and I was impressed with what I saw. I feel it is a good school for the money for instate or reciprocity students. I do not know anything about UMD (I don’t think many UMN posters here do) but if you want to study CS I wouldn’t start in Business. I would check out Eau Claire’s website (I haven’t looked at it in 2 years) and check if they are still in those CS competitions they talked about previously, check that they are ABET credited (I can’t remember but I think they are), and talk to someone in the CS Department about what they offer. Good luck.
