UMD vs JHU for chemE?

I'm instate but haven't gotten FA yet for uMD since I just got an email saying I've been selected for verification... At Hopkins, I'd be paying about 17k a year. I' thinking about going into chemical and bio molecular engineering but I'm not sure which will allow me to get a job quicker or which program is better... Any and all advice appreciated, thank you!

Hopkins is very expensive - are they giving you a grant, work-study, or just loans? I know someone who went to JHU and had that major. He loved it but his parents began to hate it because of the cost. Financial aid also changed from year 1. In hindsight he would have been better off going to the big-state U. I was shocked that the intro classes in private JHU were as large as the state university options.

I got a 42k grant for my freshman year. I got 2.5k in work study, the rest would be in loans unless I manage to get scholarships

That’s a nice grant but if it’s only for freshman year be careful. The grant may decline as a sophomore. The best grants are those that are guaranteed for all four years as long as you maintain a minimum gpa (hopefully a gpa that’s reasonably attainable).
