UMiami and Florida International football

Any thoughts on this? I think they coaches should be fired, the players thrown out...I would actually support severe punishment against Miami by the NCAA, as theyve been ridiculous this year

what happened?

A huge brawl. I think over 31 players were suspended...that was both of the teams combined.
One Miami player was using his helmet as a weapon swinging it as players from FIU.
It was insane.
Yes, the Miami coach needs to get the can...he can't keep a handle on his players.
There should be major sanctions in place for the next few years.

umm, I think I have a right to comment on this because of a particular reason lol :). Yeah, it was a fight, but, seriously, what else would you expect from a school thats huge on sports?

With that being said, the fight was completely wrong and made UM and FIU look like complete jerks. It was embarassing.

hah, nothing like watching a bunch of roided up, date rapists, beat on one another.

What caused the fight?

Miami builds a football team based on football talent and disregards character. Willie Williams is the best example. They took him even though he's been arrested 11 times. Florida International is where all the players who are not good enough for Miami go. So combine the felons of Miami with the disgruntled players of Florida International and a fight makes perfect sense.

"I think they coaches should be fired"

Larry Coker is going to be gone after this season anyway, as to how bad they've been. Why no severe punishment against Fl Intl?

Meow is right, talent>character and for the most part it works, but not lately because Coker is bad at recruiting. I'm happy though, because all those suspended players means we'll beat the **** out of Miami when they come here.

This fight was epic! I mean I know all that "This is bad sportsmanship" jazz, but come on... 31 players! What a huge brawl. I loved when the one player swung his helmet by the facemask and hit another kid.

The simple solution is no bowl game. No multi-million dollar payoff, no extra practices, no extra press. The risk of post season loss of revenues would deter this kind of stuff.

I like how the miami team started to celebrate near the end of the youtube video, classy.

yeah, sometimes I cant even believe I actually go her....er, um, I mean to college.

Well, I watch alot of college sports on TV on Saturdays and I haven't seen the likes of this from huge sports schools like say - Texas, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, Florida, etc. etc.

I would expect behavior that exhibits sportsmanship. Competitition, yes, physicality, yes, brawls, NO.

I've watched Pittsburgh and West Virginia play for years, and never have I seen anything like that...and that is one of the biggest football rivalries. If the fight was enough, what did the Miami players do when it was all finished? They went out midfield and started celebrating, like there was something to be proud of. They made themselves, there school, there family, and anybody who has ever known them look like fools. If the NCAA is so worried about getting rid of certain nicknames because they may be offensive to Native Americans (ie Indians, Seminoles, etc.), they should take action in this case...where their players were more or less trying to kill each other. Miami's season should be suspended and they should be banned from the postseason for a few years. This is their second incident this year, after the embarrassment at Louisville. Florida International...with half of the team out, they're all but done anyways. That's just my opinion.
